21.01.2022 One of the biggest components of your day is your styling, and this evening were going to specifically touch on the topic of your flowers. Your wedding flowers can also take up a large portion of your styling budget, so its worthwhile getting a deeper understanding of your florists processes and requirements, as well as their insider tips for getting longevity out of these beauties. We engaged mother-daughter duo, Jaala and Kelley, behind Bower Botanicals to answer all of our burning questions on all things florals. Click through to read their hot tips below. 20.01.2022 Wed love to see more weddings incorporate an Acknowledgement of Country in their wedding ceremony, as a sign of respect for the traditional custodians of the land on which theyre marrying. But whats the right way to do this? Weve put together one handy article that you can find below which covers everything from why its so important to how to go about wording it. #Wedshed
19.01.2022 UPDATE: C19 + 2020 Weddings Hello Lovely People, Is your wedding in 2020? Have you been searching for answers to difficult questions? Like, can my wedding go ahead? Youre not alone. Weve had so many of you reach out asking for direction over the last few weeks and we wish there was something more solid or concrete we could have given you. But no, its a pandemic after all and this big C is as unpredictable as the weather on your big day.... Some good news though - the Federal Government just announced they will be relaxing certain COVID-and-event related rules from July (exact date TBC), with the biggest nugget being that numbers will NOT be capped. Huzzah! BUT, we still need some clarification on the rules. For example; there is still that pesky 4sqm rule which means that the venue by law will still be limited to hosting a certain number of guests and suppliers. And as far as we can tell, social distancing must be in place. Which, lets be honest, is not really conducive to a dance door . Not to mention, can people fill up a bus at the end of the night? Can you serve canaps? Can you have shared wine on the table? What about shared grazing platters? Over the last few weeks weve been speaking to the office of the NSW Small Business Commission who have said its up to your venue and your professional suppliers to stay within these guidelines. Now, thats a lot of pressure when youve got 100 or so joyful guests having a few (or more) drinks over six hours. So as the industry figures out what we legally can and cannot do, we ask that you please listen to your venue and suppliers, respect what measures they might be putting in place and work with them to get the most out of your day. We can assure you that everyone on the industry-side-of-the-fence is as eager as you to get this show on the road again. Were all busting to see big days happen - not only for livelihoods but out of genuine care for the couples were working with. We know how tough its been for so many of you to navigate the unknowns and while were in no way out of the woods, were starting to see some light through the trees (just allow us one clichd metaphor, OK?). As soon as we know more, well keep you posted. Thank you as always for your patience as we all get through this patch and please know were available for you anytime - feel welcome to DM us, email us or join our couples-only FB group Wedchat by Wedshed for constant communication with us and other lovers in the same situation. 15.01.2022 With writing your guest list comes... uh, uncomfortable conversations for some - like telling people theyre not invited, or that their kids arent welcome. It can honestly be one of the biggest challenges when it comes to wedding planning, so no shame if you are losing a bit of sleep over it. You simply cant invite every man and their dog, and nor should you. For some of our most frequently asked questions including:... How to cull your guest list How to tell people theyre not invited The protocol around inviting peoples partners (thats a tricky one) ... Jump into it here: https://bit.ly/2Tq7lvu

15.01.2022 As a brand, this week weve hesitated. Weve waited, weve watched, weve almost posted. Weve stalled, trying to come up with the right way to express the truth in our team - that were realising how much more we could be doing to represent racial diversity within our business. And that despite the fact were in the wedding industry, we still have a platform, which means theres a responsibility to speak up and admit that weve discovered this last week how much we have to... learn about the injustices that Black communities have endured for generations. And even if we deep-down had an understanding, how little wed done as individuals to make any kind of change. Theres a fine line of appearing tokenistic and like youre jumping on a bandwagon. But saying nothing for fear of backlash isnt good enough. To be honest, there are too many big, important things going on in the world right now - who actually cares what one brand does. Collectively though, it hopefully all makes a difference. It brings us closer to a time where seeing businesses and individuals sharing their support for Black and Indigenous Australian communities and diversifying their feeds doesnt feel so obvious and is just who we are. We commit to listen, to learn, to be more representative. To sign, to donate, to check ourselves. And to check others when they need it too. Were going to be actively seeking out more racially diverse weddings. Were going to write a guide to incorporating an Acknowledgment of Country in your wedding day. And were open to your feedback always. This is but a small starting point, but we wanted to put it in writing so its accountable. This beautiful artwork is called Wurinyan meaning coming together in love. Its painted by young Muruwari artist Daisy Hill (@daisy_in_dots, who incidentally has just launched a new collection of gorgeous prints) and it felt very apt to share today. See more
