18.01.2022 WEIPA HOSPITAL - CHANGES: In response to COVID-19 and to ensure the continued safety of our staff and your communities, Weipa Hospital is making changes to hosp...ital access and visiting conditions. Presenting patients with flu like symptoms should call first on (07) 4082 3900. Outpatient Clinics please call the hospital first on the number above. All walk-in appointments have ceased. If it is an emergency, always dial 000. On admission, each patient will need to nominate one (1) visitor - visitors will be required to sign in. No other visitors will be allowed. Patients who are admitted with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 will not be allowed visitors. To protect our Residential Aged Care patients from any risk of exposure to COVID-19, we have ‘locked down’ Aged care. Only specifically assigned aged care staff can access this area. Visitation to aged care is restricted, please call the hospital first. The residents and families have been notified and are supportive.

17.01.2022 WEIPA HOSPITAL - CHANGES TO OUTPATIENTS: As part of our COVID-19 response, Weipa Hospital is reducing the number of face-to-face outpatient appointments. A face-to-face consult will occur if required by the doctor. Affected patients will be contacted via phone or letter before their scheduled appointment. All walk-in appointments have stopped. For non-urgent medical issues, contact the hospital on (07) 4082 3900 before coming in. If it is an emergency, always dial 000.

14.01.2022 FEVER CLINIC AT WEIPA HOSPITAL: a clinic for people presenting with flu-like and other respiratory conditions is open this weekend from 8am-4pm at Weipa Hospita...l. If you or a family member has COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, which include fever, a cough, sore throat, tiredness and shortness of breath, please telephone the Weipa Fever Clinic 4082 3678. The clinic is located on the western side of the hospital, with parking available in the hospital’s bauxite car park after taking the first turn right inside the gates. There are currently NO CONFIRMED CASES of COVID-19 in Cape York or the Torres Strait area.
