21.01.2022 My mother left me before I left her, cries a young woman about to be married. There are no medicines, no doctors, no oxygen. Very sick people with Covid are crowded into school buildings but they are not receiving any medical help. We have started a Covid relief fund for staff members to have Oximeters, pay for medicines and funeral expenses for themselves, their families and their impoverished village neighbours. Thank you for your generosity. Click on www.weiv-india.or...g to donate. Or bank transfer: BSB: 728-728 ACC: 22256190 Academy of Root Development Australia Inc Reference: Covid Relief Fund Email us your name and address and amount donated if you would like a tax deductible receipt. 16.01.2022 Through your support we have managed to buy oximeters, one for each member of staff to use for themselves, their families and their neighbours to test oxygen saturation. This has been a great help. Three of our staff have had Covid and sadly the husband of one of our teachers has died. The need is still very real. Please go to our website www.weiv-india.org If you would like to donate. Write Covid relief as reference. All donations are tax deductible. Email your name address and amount donated so we can give you a receipt.
07.01.2022 Disadvantaged Indian Village Girls and Women empower themselves through learning about their bodies, their rights, child marriage and gender discrimination. Adolescent Girls’ Groups, Pregnant Women’s Groups, Parents’ Groups and Adolescent Boys’ Groups meet in over 115 villages in the state of Bihar. The boys learn of gender discrimination and how to be a supportive family member. Illiterate Adolescent Girls learn to read and write in Hindi and English and also basic numeracy. Learn more about WEIV (Womens’ Empowerment in Indian Villages) at www.weiv-india.org. Watch films of our work, join our newsletter list, donate to support the empowerment of these girls and women.
