23.01.2022 Central Goldfields Shire Council has announced they'll waive outdoor dining fees and introduce a simplified and streamlined outdoor training application process... to aid the recovery of the local hospitality industry. Under Step Three of the State Government’s Coronavirus roadmap, indoor and outdoor dining is permitted in hospitality venues. A maximum of 50 patrons are allowed outdoors and up to 20 people inside. Council CEO Lucy Roffey said Council is committed to doing what it can to support local businesses impacted by the pandemic. Our Economic Development and Compliance teams have moved quickly to reduce the red tape so our hospitality sector is in a position to serve outdoors as soon as possible, she said. Permits can be applied for via our Better Approvals process which is an online application process that makes it quick and easy for businesses to identify and apply for the permits they need. Our dedicated business support officer is also available to work with business owners to ensure a safe and efficient re-introduction of outdoor dining that meets all safety and accessibility requirements. We’ve also prepared an ‘Outdoor Dining and Street Trading Code of Practice’ aimed at providing advice to traders on setting up their outdoor dining and trading activities. The fees associated with al fresco dining permits will also be waived to help businesses get back on their feet. Council is also encouraging hospitality businesses to apply for grants of up to $5,000 available through the Victorian Government’s Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Package. These grants are there to assist with purchasing practical items such as outdoor umbrellas and furniture so that businesses have what they need.

On the front cover is a fitting tribute to Fiona Lindsay, who has been a tireless worker for the community for the past 15 years and even in retirement, will still be working on some of her projects from a distance. We all wish her well for the future.... For more community information and news, please check us out on www.dunollynews.org, you can also read back issues on our website.

17.01.2022 Last week we received some delightful correspondence from students at the Dunolly Primary School. The letters contained a wide range of suggestions how council... could improve the town for young people. We decided to meet with the students this week and discus their ideas. What a wonderful, articulate group of students proud of their town and interested in making positive suggestions to improve it. Whilst we probably can't provide a Pizza Hut or Starbucks there were many ideas that we can implement. Congratulations to the Dunolly Primary School, what a great example. See more

14.01.2022 Yesterday was such a beautiful day, so after calling in at the caravan park Karen and I strolled across to the stunning Cork Oak located in the Dunolly Railway ...Station. This amazing, and much loved landmark is simply stunning. Apparently it was planted in 1875, not long after the station was built in 1873. The tree is significant to the community because of it's age, beauty and location, and is listed as being of state significance. I wonder how many other trees have their own facebook page?

06.01.2022 Dunolly and District Neighbourhood Centre has some of these Family Violence Resource Kits available and would like them to be distributed where they may be needed. Please contact Sharon on 54681511 (Mon - Thurs) if you know of anyone or any group which could utilise these. Thanks.

03.01.2022 From this week's Welcome Record. Please note that we have been assured by Mayor, Cr. Chris Meddows-Taylor, that as some community members do not feel comfortable visiting hotels, Council will be working on a more inclusive model for future community consultations and that they will be organised through Council's office. Please attend this event if you can though, as it is important in these early stages for Councillors to become familiar with the Dunolly community, its requirements and its important place and significance within the Shire.

01.01.2022 A sad day for the Welcome Record team, however we are so grateful to Marilyn for all she has done for the paper. We are, however, so pleased that she is staying with us, albeit in a different capacity and are all privileged to count her as a very good and much-loved friend.

01.01.2022 We are so pleased to see Gold & Grain gradually re-emerging from the restrictions and the challenges of the past few months. As most will know, they recently o...pened for takeaway only, from 4 till 8 on Thurs, Fri and Sat. As restrictions eased, this was then extended to dine-in during those hours. Due to popular demand, the hours have now been extended to also cover lunch and afternoon tea on those same days. Thurs. 12noon till 8pm Fri. 12noon till 8pm Sat. 12noon till 8pm Social distancing and other measures of course still apply.
