24.01.2022 Tarnanthi, the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA)s major celebration of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, returns in October with the exhibition Open Hands. This year the flagship show is highlighting the work of Indigenous women. The annual show alternates in format between a state-wide festival one year and a major focus exhibition the next. This years exhibition, held from October 16 to January 31, will highlight how Indigenous women artists f...orm a vital link in sharing knowledge across generations. "Open Hands pays tribute to the work of senior artists who pass on vital cultural knowledge to younger generations as the future leaders of their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through the act of making, they channel deep connections to Country and culture as they relate knowledge and expertise, stories and experiences."
