17.01.2022 Dear Friends I recently had a couple of friends visit me that have spent their life collecting beautiful Buddha statues and artifacts. They told me that the great detail and care that has gone into making these beautiful objects expresses deep love and respect for the Buddha and his Dhamma Teachings. This greatly inspires them to a life of Wisdom and Peace while also bringing great joy. This appreciation and skilful use of a Buddha image certainly resonates with me and may al...so with yourselves. Amidst a world that continues to show and share news about stress, pain and unskilful actions, we certainly need more reminders to a life of Moral Virtues, Meditative Calm and Insight, together with Learned and Lived Wisdom. My verse below might suggest this motivation for you together with the photo of one of my friend’s beautiful Buddha statues expressing the Life of the Buddha. Kind Regards John B. MINDFULNESS WELL GROUNDED With Mindfulness well grounded; With the Four Focuses of Attention, well founded; With Insight-Wisdom well rounded; And the Buddha’s call to Freedom thus sounded; Our Life-Effort to realise Truth becomes unbounded. 11.01.2022 THINGS THAT KEEP US RIGHT Dear Friends What inspires and motivates us to stay on the Right Path, the Way of Purity, Peace and Wisdom?... Much of the ways of the world can attract and distract us into ways that are the opposite of bringing the lasting Peace and Happiness that the Buddha spoke about. It can be most helpful to ask ourselves this question and to remind and re-enforce what works for us to stay on track. Certainly, wholesome qualities, virtues, words and actions can be a great motivator. My Verse below shares a list of things that we might find worth-while. Kind Regards John B. THINGS THAT KEEP US RIGHT Of great gratitude; And wonderful words of magnitude. Of caring compassion; And discerning dispassion. Of amazing kindness; And open mindedness. Of cognitive curiosity; And the minds luminosity. Of expressions of joy and delight; In Truth seeing with profound insight. Of the goodness of morality; And the maintaining of integrity. Of training in meditative tranquillity; And the evolution of equanimity. Of mental mind care; And transpersonal wisdom so rare. Of grand gestures of generosity; And deep connection to humanity. Of values, virtues and vision bright; These are the things that keep us Right! For more Wisdom and Insight www.wellawareness.com.au

10.01.2022 WISDOM TEACHINGS ALWAYS FRESH AND ANEW Dear Friends This week finds us with the Full Moon on May, which is celebrated in the Buddhist Calendar as Vesakha Puja the occasions of the Birth of the Buddha, his Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree and his Death or Final Passing. Because of the Buddhas great effort to realise complete spiritual freedom with the state of Full Awakening Enlightenment, then his birth and death become meaningful.... The Buddhas legacy to us all is the Dhamma, a complete set of Teachings and Trainings for realising our complete Spiritual Potential and Full Freedom. Those that have practiced these Teachings and fulfilled the Trainings of mind are the Sangha, and we honour them as an example of what we too can fulfill. Like a wonderful recipe that can create a most amazing cake; we do need to use the recipe, make the cake and taste it for ourselves. A recipe book with wonderful nourishing and sustaining food needs to be taken off the shelf and made use of to really be helpful. On this Full Moon in May - Vesakha Puja, I encourage you to take up the recipe for Freedom and Peace and put the wonderful wisdom teachings of the Buddha into practice in our lives; now and onwards. Please consider my verse below for inspiration. Kind Regards John B. WISDOM TEACHINGS ALWAYS FRESH AND ANEW The Buddha’s Teachings always fresh and anew; Helping us develop clarity of insight; And of ignorance to see through. The Buddha’s Teaching ancient and old; The Truth and the Way of things; He has explained and told. That all conditioned things do pass; They arise, stay a while; Yet change and never last. Because of change things are a stress and pain; The uncertainly and conditioned nature of things; Means there is no certainty of gain. Where then is any Self that is real or true? This insight hard to glean; Is realised by just a few. Yet there is full final Peace and Joy; When the Buddha’s Wisdom Teaching; We engage and earnestly employ. Don’t sit and think to wait; Life is surely uncertain; And it may become too late! For more Wisdom and Insight go to www.wellawareness.com.au

08.01.2022 NO WHERE TO BE Dear Friends We have all come across the statement ‘it is what it is!’... This is not just the case for things and events but also the whole thing and event that is Life and particularly our own Life! Yes, our Life is what it is! However often we want, wish and even will it to be otherwise! This is particularly the case when Life is difficult, disturbing, distressing and depressing. Fundamentally Life can be stressful, due to the various ongoing issues and complexities that create concern and confusion. No wonder we wish we were elsewhere; yet through our Insight Meditation - Vipassana we can realise that the source of the stress is not so much outside of our self, but in fact is our self! Life is what it is; things are as they are however they are. It is the me, the my, the I that reacts, resists, denies or tries to distract from what is happening. Mindful Awareness free from the filters of the egoic-sense of self, creates a new ‘Pure and Simple’, relationship to experience, where there is no self and no stress. How wonderful! Please enjoy my verse below! Kind Regards John B. NO WHERE TO BE I sought to seek Peace and Contentment in Life; Free from complexity, stress and strife. Realising this could be found No-Where; I wished I could be but already there! Here then, No-Where is anywhere that is found; The ‘I’ and the ‘Me’ that gets stressed is not around. Peace and Contentment is a state of Mind; The ‘I’ ‘Me’ ‘You’, ‘We’ and ‘They’, all left behind. So don’t give way to frustration, fear and regret; For it is the ‘ego- I’, that with all these is beset. The Mind-Heart not caught into the ‘I’ to identify; Has great wings to be Free, to soar and to fly! For more Wisdom and Insight go to www.wellawareness.com.au

05.01.2022 WTH GRACE AND CARE Dear Friends Our year is filled with four seasons, each of which has its particular path and purpose in the context of Nature and the cycle of Life.... Each season has a particular mood and energy that affects us in a particular way, based upon how that season is expressed through Nature, the result of the season that has been and affecting the season that will come. A certain significant season is that of Autumn; which lies between the two extreme seasons of Summer and Winter. Autumn expresses a calming, quietening, cooling and a slowing. Autumn brings relief to the intensity that was Summer and helps us to prepare for the cold of Winter. When we are Mindful and Attentive we can be both Perceptive and Receptive through our senses, to the changes that Nature expresses as the season of Autumn. As Nature expresses Autumn externally, we can also be Mindful to how this season affects us internally, our particular thoughts, states of mind, mood, bodily sensations and behaviours. Autumn calls us to our senses to sense, feel, perceive and receive this beautiful time of year and time in our life. A call to quietening, calming, reflection and meditation. Please enjoy my verse below that hints at this possibility. Regards John B. WITH GRACE AND CARE She quietly arrived into our life with grace and care; For a while we did not know that she was there. Her presence was felt as a cool soft breeze; Nurturing our life with more joy and ease. We saw her in the soft pale sky; The hint of clouds appearing as if so shy. We heard her in small birds song and voice; The end of summer heat brings relief and rejoice. Flowers offered her their fragrant bloom; Here for a while but gone so soon.
