22.01.2022 We are now asking all our patients as well as visitors to please sign in to register their contact details for potential contact tracing purposes when entering our medical centre. To help stream line this, we have set up a QR code that you can scan and complete while being triaged at our front entrance, if you do not have access to a smart phone there will be a book set up for you to enter your details instead. We have decided to take this approach in the event we have a po...sitive COVID-19 case enter our centre, we want to be able to easily assist the Government in providing your contact information for contact tracing purposes. Your contact details on this list will be used only for this purpose and will be kept for 2 months. Your details will then be deleted after this time. As always, we thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

21.01.2022 RESPIRATORY CLINIC Firstly, we would like to say a very big THANK YOU to all our patients who have been so supportive and understanding during this very unsettling time. Our aim has always been to protect our patients, our doctors, and staff. We have implemented a very strict screening process at both our front and back entry points as well as when booking appointments over the phone. Gathering this information enables us to correctly assess how we triage the patient and ...identify anyone who may be at high risk of COVID-19. We do continue to ask for everyones honesty regarding their symptoms when asked. We want to assure everyone that these high-risk patients are seen in our car park underneath or consulted over the phone with the Doctor and we have done our utmost to ensure COVID-19 does not enter our practice. Our respiratory clinic has been set up to be a separate, closed off area from the rest of our practice. This area has its own waiting area, consult rooms, entry/ exit point, toilet facilities and separate air conditioning. We are currently using this area for a designated Doctor to see our patients who present with ANY type of respiratory symptom including fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, diarrohea and vomiting. Please bear in mind that our respiratory clinic is only for patients who are unwell. If possible, the only person in there should be the patient and maybe one family member. We appreciate this process can at times be frustrating for everyone and a small minority have shown their displeasure to our receptionists and nurses. This is very unfortunate as our friendly and caring staff are only doing their job. We wish to make it very clear that abuse WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. We believe keeping separate areas has been vital to maintaining safety for all and is even more important at this time when restrictions are being relaxed and people are moving more freely throughout the community. We would like to remind everyone that it is important that childhood immunisations are still done on time if possible. However, we do ask if unwell to reschedule to another time when symptoms have resolved.

20.01.2022 As of today you will notice some changes to the way you enter our practice. We no longer have a nurse at the front screening everyone, however we will ask you to follow the signage and check in before you enter by scanning the QR code, or entering your details into our book. One of our receptionist will take your temperature as you check in. If you have any respiratory type symptoms, you will need to wear a mask (we will supply one if you don’t already have one) and you will... be directed to wait in our respiratory clinic waiting room. We no longer have one Doctor seeing patients with respiratory type symptoms, so you will now have the option to book with any Doctor available. The Doctor will then decide as to whether they see you there or in their usual consult room. We thank everyone for their continued support and understanding during this time.

20.01.2022 We would like to welcome our new Chronic Disease Nurse Coordinator, Donna, to the Wellers Hill Medical Centre team. 19.01.2022 As of today (19th November, 2020) our Doctors will now be using BetterConsult, a pre-consultation questionnaire that is completed by you to give your Doctor a better understanding of the reason for your visit. This is for patients aged 18 70 years. If you have consented to receive SMS from us, you will be sent an SMS from WHMC 24 hours prior to your appointment with a link to complete the questionnaire. If you have not consented to SMS and would like to receive this for future appointments, please give us a call and let us know. This is completely voluntary but recommended to help get the most out of your consultation with your Doctor.

19.01.2022 Today is WORLD OSTEOPOROSIS DAY! Osteoporosis is a condition that causes bones to become thin, weak, and fragile. This happens when bones lose minerals such as calcium, faster than the body can replace them. Decreases in bone mineral density and changes in bone quality make bones more fragile and easily broken than bones of ‘normal’ density. As a result, even a minor bump or accident can cause a fracture. You can prevent Osteoporosis by having a healthy and varied diet wit...h lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains, eating calcium rich foods avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, limiting caffeine and doing regular weight baring and strength training activities Speak to your Doctor about your osteoporosis risk and how best to protect your bones! Visit www.osteoporosis.org.au for more information.
