23.01.2022 This is an enormous low pressure system. Winds over 100kph and maybe to 130 kph may be expected in Victoria and Tasmania tomorrow. Good rains today.

22.01.2022 *** MOTHER'S DAY MONSTER UPDATE MAY BRING ALL TYPES OF EXTREME WEATHER TOO ALL STATES *** *** FROM UNUSUAL WARMTH/HEAT IN SOME PLACES TO THE AUTUMN BREAK AND SUBSTANTIAL RAINFALL IN SOME PARTS TO EXTREME DAMAGING WINDS AND LASHING THUNDERSTORMS IN OTHER REGIONS & COLD BLAST WINTRY HAIL IN OTHERS.. THIS HAS SIGNS OF BEING A HUGE WEATHER SYSTEM *** *** Feel free to share/tag friends and family with this information ***... We give this a good 70% chance of this happening now... Models continue to paint a picture of a very deep low that will form near the southern coast of Australia this weekend. The low is showing signs of "bombing" which means once it develops pressures fall quickly, with that type of scenario high winds, heavy rain and storms are likely to occur. The low will form in response to a very strong upper trough over WA on Friday this will help drag moisture down from the Indian ocean and allow widespread rain and thunderstorms to form from northern WA through central Australia and onto SA, VIC, TAS and inland NSW. There is a moderate to high chance of significant rain to occur with this system from north west Australia down to south eastern Australia. This has the potential to become one of the nastiest weather systems we have seen in Autumn for many years of not decades. Mainly due to its pressures, how close to the coast it may form (not often get a low this deep so far north) and due to its shear size. Stay tuned we will keep you updated. Image one: Euro model continues to strongly suggest this bombing low for this weekend with pressures down to 980hpa just off the coast of SA and Vic. Image two: The ACCESS/BOM model also paints a similar scenario with the low forming and bombing just south of SA with pressures dropping to 982hPa. - JWC

21.01.2022 Latest on the Mothers day monster. Seams that Hobart may escape the worst.. **** MOTHER'S DAY MONSTER UPDATE! THIS HAS THE SIGNS OF BEING THE LARGEST AND STRONGEST SYSTEM IN AUTUMN FOR DECADES. **** PLEASE SHARE/TAG WITH FRIENDS & FAMILY THIS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION/WARNINGS ****... Good afternoon everyone, we can start to see the first signs of moisture starting to pour in from the Indian ocean on a jetstream, this moisture will interact with the front and low well south west of WA still and form a "bombing low" in the Bight. This deep low will help pull this moisture down from north western Australia down to south eastern Australia and produce rain, storms throughout most of this large area. EVERY STATE will be IMPACTED IN SOME WAY BY THIS SYSTEM. As the low develops so will the strong winds we may see gale to possibly even storm force winds depending how deep the low bombs, some models drop the pressures down to as low as 975hPa Sunday night south of SA which is incredible for a system so far north. Coastal erosion, big seas in SA, Vic and Tasmania will all be a feature. Flooding may also become a concern especially in heavy rains areas and thunderstorm activity. Some parts of northern WA, outback NT may see close to 100mm as well as parts of northern Tasmania and north eastern Victoria higher ground could see 150mm+! The rain will also impact inland NSW and western Qld with good falls expected in both regions. Cold air and showers, wintry hail will also surge into southern WA and Perth region behind the low in cold southerly winds. Snow may also fall over the highlands of VIC, TAS and NSW by Monday as some of that cold air from WA spread east behind the low. We expect ALL RANGE OF WARNINGS with this system most of the country. We will do a detailed forecast state by state tomorrow night... Image one: Latest satellite image. Image provided by Himawari-8.
