25.01.2022 Well Heeled Podiatry is still open! We are following strict infection control guidelines from our registration board to ensure the safety of our clients and ourselves. We have minimised touch points for patients, have made changes to our waiting area for social distancing, and schedule alterations so there is minimal cross over of clients. We have plenty of hand sanitiser, masks and gloves and are wiping down all surfaces throughly between clients. We have strict guidelines for clients entering the centre, located at the bottom of all appointment emails and text. #covid19 #infectioncontrol #podiatry #hamptonpodiatry #sportspodiatry #baysidepodiatry #brightonpodiatry

24.01.2022 I am often asked by patients and friends what is good shoe for their little ones feet, when they are starting to walk. So here is my advice on a great shoe.

24.01.2022 For anyone who has had a corn, we know that they can be incredibly painful and annoying. You may even be inclined to purchase a corn pad. Read this blog below to see why you should never purchase a corn pad. https://www.wellheeledpodiatry.com.au/say-no-to-corn-pads

24.01.2022 Dowel stick walking is a great way to release the tight muscles and fascia under your feet. It also helps to mobilise your foot joints. It is not for the faint hearted and needs to be done correctly to ensure its effectiveness. This is one of our home exercises we give to our patients who are suffering heel pain. We use this in conjunction with our in clinic foot manipulation and tool assisted release therapy. #footpainrelief #heelpain #plantarfasciitis #plantarheelpain #bruisedheel #footmanipulation #footmobilisation #sportspodiatry #hamptonpodiatry #baysidepodiatry

24.01.2022 Sienna rocking her new Bobux rose gold sandals from Solemechanics on Hampton St. If you want to ensure your little one is wearing good shoes Bobux are brilliant. They provide protection to the feet while still allowing natural development of the foot. #childrensshoes #summersandals #childrensfeet #childrenspodiatry #hamptonpodiatrist #bobux #solemechanics #shoes #childrensfootwear

24.01.2022 This is fast becoming our new familiar scent in the clinic. Viraclean is a hospital grade disinfectant that has been TGA approved at being effective against COVID-19 on surfaces. We are using this between every patient to clean all the surfaces in our treatment rooms. We will remain vigilant to ensure both your health and ours is protected. This is just one of the many protocols we have implement in the centre to continue to safely provide our patients with podiatry care. #sportpodiatry #covid19 #healthcare #infectioncontrol #footpaintreatment #shockwaverherapy #footmobilisation

24.01.2022 ISO self care tip #1 Spiky Ball rolling. This is a great exercise to do daily to release the tight structures under your deets if you point your toes down while performing this you will also get a nice stretch through the top of your foot. This exercise of great for heel and arch pain and fatigue. #spikyballrolling #heelpain #archpaintrestment #isoselfcare #isoexercises #isorehab #footcare #footpain

23.01.2022 Looks can be deceiving . This Achilles ankle strap may look a bit funny but it works an absolute treat for Insertional Achilles Pain. It prevents full range dorsiflexion of the ankle joint, which causes a pulling effect on the Achilles. This is an effective strapping technique we use to give our patients pain relief and let the area settle for a few days. #strapping #footpain #achillespain #shockwavetherapy #sportspodiatry #heelpain @ Hampton, Victoria, Australia

22.01.2022 Patient Story as Part of Foot Health Week 2020... After the birth of my first daughter, I developed severe pain in my feet. I had plantar fasciitis, not that I knew that at the time. It was a hard period for me because my mother had passed away only a few months earlier. Here was I with this newborn and searing leg pain that stopped me from being fully present. Like most new parents, I put the pain off for a while and just popped painkillers. It wasn’t till the pain became a...lmost unbearable that I went to my GP, who referred me to a podiatrist. The podiatrist did a stack of tests like getting me to walk on a treadmill, measuring my leg length, looking at how I stood, and stuff like that. He diagnosed me pretty quickly with plantar fasciitis, caused by the extra weight I carried as part of my pregnancy. Apparently it’s common in pregnant women, I had no idea. So I did a lot of stretches that he prescribed, which helped. Eventually I was pain-free again, but the podiatrist pulled no punches in telling me this was a lifelong thing I needed to be aware of. That’s why I started looking into appropriate orthotic friendly shoes that my podiatrist recommended, much to my initial reluctance. I thought they would look like ‘old lady shoes’, but they are really nice shoes. I now own five- pairs ranging from flip flops with arch support through to low heels which I always get compliments on! I’ll always be aware of the need to support my feet and calves, and life is just different now, compared to what it was pre-baby. For example, I would never walk barefoot on anything other than grass or sand, as I know this would trigger my plantar fasciitis. Yep, I sound pretty middle aged now, but I’m okay with that! #foothealthawareness #plantarfasciapain #heelpain #footpain #footspecialist #footdoctor #localpodiatrist

22.01.2022 When your baby takes her first steps- nothing compares. I love how pleased she is with herself. 17.01.2022 Dear Australia, Lets work together to put your health first. Understandably, during our lockdown the rates of visits to general practice, allied health professionals and emergency departments have dropped. There has also been a large drop of about 40% in the number of pathology tests being done. These are tests such as blood, urine or tests on body tissue ordered by your healthcare professionals. While we continue to be careful and take the recommended precautions to protect... our community against COVID-19, its important to look after the other aspects of our healthcare, and Australias world-class healthcare professionals are here to help you do that. Before COVID-19 struck, we were already concerned that the number of people getting cancer screening tests was too low. We also knew that early detection and monitoring for type 2 diabetes, heart disease and kidney disease were lacking, with large numbers of undiagnosed cases. COVID-19 has made these existing problems even worse. We dont want to risk trading one health problem for another with Australians missing out on cancer, diabetes, heart or kidney checks because of fear and other barriers caused by COVID-19. Postponing a visit to a health professional or a pathology test might seem OK, but cancer, diabetes and kidney disease do not stop during COVID-19. We need to avoid delays to ensure any new symptoms get checked and diagnosed quickly, and to ensure we monitor existing conditions. So, if you have put off a visit to general practice, an allied health professional or a pathology test dont delay any further. It could save your life. Telehealth has been expanded to make healthcare easier to access. You can now have consultations with your doctor, pharmacist or other health professionals through video chat or phone calls, and have lifesaving medicines delivered to your home. Remember, health services are also open to see you in person. We understand you may have questions about how you can access the care you need safely, we encourage you to contact your health services and ask those questions. So please get in touch, make that call, or book an appointment today. #healthscreens #healthchecks #diabetes #hea See more

12.01.2022 We take infection control very seriously in our centre with sterilisation stations at the front desk and also in our clinic rooms. We have always taken pride in being a very clean and well run centre, and now more than ever we are being extra vigilant with our infection control and sanitisation to keep everyone safe. Here are just some of the things our centre is doing: 1. Ensuring hand are washed and sanitiser regularly. This is often multiple times during a consultation. 2.... Wiping of all surfaces in our treatment room, door handles, light switches and patient chair/bed between every patient. 4. Minimising touch points for clients. 5. Keeping up to date with the latest news from our professional boards and making sure we take all appropriate steps. 10.01.2022 When choosing footwear: Rule No 1The foot is always right. Rule No 2 If thefoot feels wrong, refer to Rule 1. The biggest challenge for the manufacturers and scientists alike, is that there are just too many individual variance; athlete weight, biomechanics, running style, running surface, age, sex, and it is therefore impossible to mass produce a commercial product that will work for all runners. Therefore what works for one person may not work for the next. You need to feel comfortable in your running shoes, from the moment you try them on. #footwear #runners #sneakers #trailrunning #marathonrunner #sportshoes

09.01.2022 Freedom . 06.01.2022 Hand hygiene is vital, so please make sure we are all doing it right

06.01.2022 Make sure you have enough width in your shoes to allow your toes to spread out. If your shoes are too narrow this can cause sharp shooting pains in the balls of your feet from impingement of the nerves. It can also lead to bunions over time. Tight footwear is the most common reason you get hard skin and corns on your toes. #socialdistancing #footwear #podiatrycare #baysidepodiatry #hamptonpodiatrist #footpain #footpainadvice

05.01.2022 We are treating a lot more heel pain cases during the COVID19 restrictions, as people are walking and running more than ever. Luckily thats what we are very experienced in! 05.01.2022 Have you considered Shockwave Therapy for your Heel or Achilles Tendon Pain?

05.01.2022 The midsole in your sports shoes is primarily made of a material called EVA that is designed to provide shock absorption and cushioning under the foot during load. Some of the energy in this process is lost as heat, which over time breaks down the midsole and shock absorbing ability of your shoe. EVA also takes 24 hours to return to its original state after pressure is reduced. This is why it is strongly advised to have two pairs of runners which you alternate between to all...ow the midsole to recover. With two pair of shoes you will get double the life span, so although it is more money upfront you will save in the long run. #runners #running #joggers #jogging #sportsshoes #runningshoes #sportspodiatry #sportsfootwear #marathontraining #marathonrunner #trailrunning #triathlontraining #triathlete #triathlon #ironmantraining #ironman #weekendworrior #footinjuries #hamptonpodiatry #hamptonpodiatrist

05.01.2022 The biggest single challenge for the manufacturers and scientist involved in running shoe technology, is that there are just too many individual variance; athlete weight, biomechanics, running style, running surface, age, sex, etc. It is therefore impossible to mass produce a commercial product that will work for all runners. Which is why if you are on the hunt for new runners it is so important to try them out by going for a run in them- specific footwear stores will have treadmills for you to try out the footwear.
