21.01.2022 A Sale family is fundraising to support ground-breaking research that could save the lives of children born with rare genetic diseases, including that of their ...son, Jerry. Dave and Bess Ong are raising money to support research and a clinical trial by Dr Leszek Lisowski from the Childrens Medical Research Institute. The Ongs three-year-old son, Jerry, was born with an extremely rare condition known as SPG50 - associated hereditary spastic paraplegia - a mutation of the AP4M1 gene. The progressive condition means Jerry will soon lose his hard-won ability to crawl and to walk as spasticity takes over his limbs. He may never speak, and his brain will continue to deteriorate. To help the family visit www.myjeansforgenes.org.au/jeans-for-jerry. For more on the familys story grab a copy of todays Gippsland Times.

16.01.2022 Have you recently welcomed a new arrival into the household? Because of current rules and regulations surrounding COVID-19, the Gippsland Times has suspended vi...sits to the Sale Hospital to take baby photos. Parents are, however, welcome to send in newborn shots with mum or dad for publication. We just need a few details: Babys name: Babys sex: Babys date of birth: Babys weight in kilograms: The hospital baby was born at: The names of babys parents (first and surnames): Town or area babys parents live: The names of siblings: Email your photo and information to: [email protected] with baby photo in the subject line. Baby photos are published in Friday Gippsland Times issues, and will be published up to three weeks after babys birth, unless a medical reason prevents an earlier photo being taken. For this Fridays issue, make sure you get your details in by about lunchtime tomorrow.

10.01.2022 The world today is fast-paced and distracting at times. This week, lets all practice being present with our children and noticing more. When you are being pres...ent and noticing these things about your child(ren), pay attention to the thoughts and feelings this creates within you. Shared via EUPISD Early On See more

10.01.2022 Victorians who have experienced the loss of a baby in early pregnancy can now apply for a commemorative certificate from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marr...iages. An early pregnancy loss is one that occurs before 20 weeks of gestation and is not formally registered as either a birth or a death. Studies show that up to one in five women who know they are pregnant will have a miscarriage before 20 weeks, but the actual rate of miscarriage is likely much higher because some will occur before a woman realises she is pregnant. 04.01.2022 They may sound the same, however there is a HUGE difference between a booster cushion and a booster seat for your growing child. Booster cushions were wr...itten out of the Australian Standards in 2010 and arent recommended for use. Booster seats with high backs and side wings offer greater protection for your childs head in a side impact crash and keep the seat belt in the correct position, even if a child falls asleep. Take a look at our website for more info and advice https://www.kidsafevic.com.au/road-safety/child-restraints/
