25.01.2022 #weeklyrecap U10 Boys Great win this weekend. Excellent passing demonstrating strong teamwork! Well done boys!!... U12 Girls What a game!!! The bench yelling, coach yelling, players yelling...time outs...passes and defence. In the end we won! U12 Boys Knights A very fast paced game had the boys off to a strong start. But a lack of substitutes saw them slow down later in the game. The boys kept working but werent able to overcome the opposition. U12 Boys - Dukes A slow start for the boys on this weekend game. A bit too late to catch up on second half but they did not lose hope and was happy to finish the game. Good team effort. U14 Girls Jesters Had a win. Both teams played really well and it was tight the whole game with the Kings just pulling away in the final quarter. Some great skills on display from both sides and the newer players from both teams continue to improve every week. Go Kings Jesters!!! U14 Girls Musketeers & Dames High energy match this weekend, with some great shooting. Well done to the Musketeers who played a strong match to beat their clubmates Dames. U14 Boys -Dukes Had a good win. It was nice to get 1 final win with the full roster before splitting into 2 teams this week. U14 Boys RC A loss for the team. A few missed baskets but boys showed resilience and never gave up. Girls YDL The girls played a solid hard game again on Friday night. With some great rebounds, fast breaks and some real gutsy plays. Our YDL ladies certainly play with passion. From coach the Girls played a really great game, held their own and should be very proud of the way they all played! We are all proud of them! U16 Boys Jesters We were so happy to finally get a well-deserved win. What an exhilarating game, we won in the last 14 seconds by 2 points. Awesome teamwork boys! U16 Boys Knights Got off to a strong start, although the opposition clawed back in the 2nd half making for an exciting game. Our strong defence allowed us to maintain the lead and ended up with another satisfying win. A warm welcome to our two new Knights: Sir Edward and Sir Angus. Both played well tonight and proved to be valuable additions to the team. U16 Boys Dukes Dukes got dealt their first defeat of the competition in a scrappy game against a opposition. The boys effort was undoubted, but it was just one of those nights that their shots didnt drop. U16 Boys - Barons Got the W. Boys had a fast start to the 1st qtr. All boys played great defence. One injury Ethan Brooks ankle. Great to see more Mothers joining us again. U18 Boys Dukes Had a slow start to their game against a feisty opposition team but as the teams swap ends for the last two quarters the Dukes put the hammer down to run out strong winners. #KingsReginHasBegun

25.01.2022 Hi Kings Family, The carwash to raise funds for the U18 Boys Lions Rep team has been postponed. It is believed the event will be rescheduled for early in the new year.

24.01.2022 and that’s a WRAP! What a way to finish up the year with the fun and activities at both last weeks training session and the games over the weekend!!! Before we sign off for the year, we want to say THANK YOU to all members of the Kings Family.... As a Club that’s not yet one year old we’ve already had a lot of success on the court while we continue to grow and build for the future. All of this could not have been achieved without the support and hard work of the Kings community. So, THANK YOU to the players, parents, care givers, coaches, team managers and all our supporters who week-in week-out have represented the Wellington Point Kings perfectly - it’s fair to say that the Kings reign has begun! 23.01.2022 Hey Kings Family, What a long strange year this has been and we’re nearly ready to pack it up for the year all bar one final training night (if you want to call it that ) and some fun style games this weekend. With the Finals now completed, we'll be making this last week as FUN and RELAXED as possible.. This week at training we’ll be running a sausage sizzle for the Players, Coaches and Managers. Players will also be receiving some small goodies from the Kings for all their... dedication and hard work they’ve shown to their teams and the game. See you all there. #KingsReign

23.01.2022 #weeklyrecap U10 Boys The boys trained well this week which transitioned into a long sleep in with the BYE.... U12 Girls This week the girls worked hard to find their groove. We were a bit lost but with some rest and a good holiday we will bounce back. U12 Boys Dukes Got a jump on the holidays by having a well earnt bye. U14 Girls - Dames The Dames smashed their goal of keeping the opposition under 50 points. Great defensive game girls!!! U14 Girls Jesters & Musketeers Jesters and Musketeers had a nail biting game Saturday with the lead changing numerous times throughout the four quarters. Both sides had numerous shots bounce around the ring and drop out and lots of individuals showed real desperation to help their teammate out in defence or hustle for a loose ball. The game came down to the last 30 seconds but the Jesters hung on for a 1 point win. Both sides played a great game though and at all times good sportsmanship was displayed! U14 Boys Dukes Nice win for the Dukes this weekend. The boys worked on their fast passing in transition which worked well! U14 Boys Barons Today all the boys achieved a personal goal. Whether it be dribbling down the court, calling for the ball more, defending harder or communicating with each other for that basket. We may not have won the game but today the boys won in their own right as a team. U14 Boys - RC A fantastic win for the boys. Great defence. They really started to come together as a team. Awesome effort. U16 Boys Knights Knights had their first loss this week. It was a fast-paced game from the get-go with the lead changing often, but the final 2 points went to the opposition giving them the lead. It was obvious the opposition were determined to give us a run for our money and credit where credits due, they played an awesome game and earned that win. U16 Boys Dukes Dukes had a good win over a undermanned opposition. Although tested in the 1st quarter the boys settled down from then on to run out with a much-needed win. U16 Boys Barons Barons played the #1 team. All smiles for the Barons as they pushed the opposition, but unfortunately didnt get the win. We will see them in the finals. Injuries update 2 players will be back in October. U16 Boys - Jesters So proud of how the team played. Even with them having a few rep players amongst them, we stayed closely behind and gave them a good run for their money. U18 Boys Dukes & RC A man down, the Dukes got off to an aggressive start, with several players getting into foul trouble early. Trying to balance staying on the court and still playing defence, the Dukes weren't able to overcome their opponents, the Kings RC team. Either way, a King still came out on top! These times remain the same as last week however please carefully check the schedule to ensure that you attend at your teams time and court.... A 10 minute changeover period between sessions remains in place due to the ongoing COVID restrictions so we ask all teams that upon the finish of their allotted time to promptly vacate the venue to allow for the next session to commence on time. Importantly, could all attendees continue to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to their respective session as you will not be able to enter the venue until the previous session attendees have vacated. The Kings committee continues to request that each player, coach and spectator complete the signing sheet prior to commencement of training and entering the venue. 21.01.2022 PLAYER REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN Basketball is BACK and so are the Kings! Registration for Summer 2021 Season has now begun and the Wellington Point Kings are accepting registrations from GIRLS and BOYS from ages 7 to 20. READ ON... The season starts in the first week of February and concludes at the end of school Term 2 with age groups and divisions to match skill levels and development. For Players NEW to our Club We have a sign-up day this Saturday. Our awesome Club members would love to meet you, answer any questions you may have and (hopefully) welcome you to the CLUB! Details as follows: Date: Saturday 16th January Time: 9am - 12pm Location: Birkdale Fair Shopping Centre (cnr Mary Pleasant Drive and Birkdale Road, Birkdale) outside the Woolworths. For Players RETURNING to our Club follow three simple steps: 1 - Register via the RedCity Roar website (RedCityRoar.com.au). 18.01.2022 #weeklycap U10 Boys The boys have been crushing their recent training sessions and this weekend had a well-earned rest with the Bye.... U12 Girls This week the girls were out played by a team who took our teamwork philosophy and applied it. Better luck next week ladies. U12 Boys Dukes Great effort by the boys this weekend with a very close game. The opponent took the lead in the last minute after the last shot. A lot of good passing by our boys. U14 Girls RC Dames Winning is about setting your goals and achieving them. Todays team goal was to reach double-digits on the scoreboard and keep the opposition from scoring over 50. It was touch and go for a while, but mission accomplished on both counts. Well done RC Dames! U14 Girls Jesters & Musketeers Jesters and Musketeers played in a really good game. The Musketeers were too strong in the end but both teams played a great style of basketball. Some brilliant passing between players on both teams and some very accurate shooting from the Musketeers. Both teams have players relatively new to the game but you can see them improving week after week. U14 Boys RC & Dukes The RC boys put out lots of effort against a very strong Dukes team. Was good to see the boys pass the ball around. U14 Boys Barons The Barons had their first game together this week and even though they hadnt all played together they put up a great fight and will continue to grow together. Looking forward to the coming weeks! Girls YDL The girls went toe to toe on Friday night and came home with the win! With many new to basketball girls on the team its so exciting to watch them get brave on the court. Also, a massive shout out to our New to Basketball Mums who rocked the score bench! #basketballmum U16 Boys Jesters The boys had an awesome game on Friday night and are really gelling together as a team. A well-deserved win. Great job Jesters U16 Boys Barons Boys came up short. Back and forth game in the 1st half. Not quick enough to catch the opposition. U16 Boys Knights Continued their undefeated reign, but it was a close and intense game. The opposition played a hard game and had strong defence. Fortunately our Knights all rose to the challenge and came home winners. U16 Boys Dukes Met a determined opposition team with the game see-sawing throughout and finally coming down to final seconds where the Dukes were defeated with the final shot if the game. U18 Boys Dukes & RC Had a intra-kingdom clash between the Dukes & Kings RC. RC got away in the first quarter but after pulling it together and working on their defence, Dukes caught up in the 2nd. As the scores closed, the intensity built, and it remained anyones game right until the last minute, before the Dukes pulled away to secure the win. #KingsReignHasBegun

17.01.2022 #weeklyrecap U10 Boys The boys knew they were going to be playing a tough match this week and brought plenty of energy. Every single one of them was exhausted by the end of the match, but, having an extra sub helped the them get the victory. A great way to celebrate Bentleys first game with the team!... U12 Girls The team welcomed Charlotte and Eva this week. After a great game with many highlights, the girls only lost by 2 points. Special mention goes out to Artemis...who score not once...not twice but three times. Great teamwork ladies. U14 Girls Jesters Tried hard against a very tall side but couldnt quite hold them enough to get the win. Every week these girls try hard against teams with much taller players which is fantastic to see. Our tenacious defence caused quite a few turnovers but we were a bit off with our shooting. Well done to all the girls, keep up the shooting practice at home and we will come out hard next week. U14 Girls Musketeers The team played hard with all players attempting some shots and some great baskets made, but unfortunately not enough to take out the win this week. U14 Girls Dames The Dames took a while to warm up to the game scoring almost half their points in the final quarter. Great rebound catch by Emma from the floor. U14 Boys RC & Dukes Still plagued by injuries, the boys tried hard. The Dukes managed to spread the ball well and get a lot of stops, still a bit sloppy for Coaches liking but the team is heading in the right direction. The baskets just werent going in the favour of the RC, but onwards and upwards RC. U16 Boys Dukes Enjoyed a well-earned bye. U16 Boys Jesters & Barons The Jesters boys showed some real talent in a Friday nights game with some pretty impressive passes. Both teams have been improving every week. But the Barons defence was the difference. Well done Barons. U16 Boys - Knights Friday night frolics. In the first half the boys decided to give the coach and parents a bit of a shake-up by getting off to a really slow start and letting the opposition run away on the scoreboard. Fortunately, they pulled it together in the 2nd and came back to win. Great job boys. U18 Boys RC With strong defence and good rebounds, the team had a win again this week. U18 Boys Dukes The Dukes had an up and down game but fortunately, a nail biting buzzer beater 3pt shot by the other team, bounced back out, and we managed to secure the win. #KingsReignHasBegun

16.01.2022 #weeklyrecap U10 Boys The boys brought plenty of heart and hustle against a much taller opposition. Heart over height, well done boys.... U12 Girls Once again the girls found their feet through team work...smart passes gave them a win. The girls then backed up their great win, with an experience of a lifetime...playing at half time at out REDCITY ROAR QSL game. Great game...great night. Thanks girls. U14 Girls - Musketeers & Dames A nail biting game all the way to the finish. All players giving it their absolute best. The lead changed multiple times throughout the game, with the Musketeers ultimately taking the win. The Dames achieved their individual goals for the game and got their highest team score of the season. Well done to our new Player, Kayla, on her first game. Well done both Kings teams!!! U14 Girls - Jesters Had a tough win against a determined opposition team. Despite only having five players our girls fought hard all game especially with their defence and rebounding. Some patient offence in the last quarter produced some scoring opportunities which the girls executed beautifully. Well done girls! U14 Boys - Dukes Had a win. All the boys played well together as a team with some good passing on display! YDL Girls Fast paced game with all girls taking lots of shots and passing the ball far and fast. They are certainly putting up a great fight and working as a team. U16 Boys - Knights In a nail biter of a game, the boys were down by a couple of points the whole game but managed to pull it together when it counted and finished the 4th quarter strong to win by 2. U16 Boys - Barons Well done to Barons for showing that fighting spirit. U16 Boys - Jesters What a nail biting game. We led in the first half but then the opposition came from behind and took the lead. The team showed great passing skills and are improving every week. Well done Jesters. U16 Boys - Dukes Dukes were down on troops for their Friday night encounter against a strong opposition though this didnt deter the boys who gave their best but unfortunately could not come away with the victory. U18 Boys - Dukes The Dukes came up against a determined opponent this week. Our determination was greater though and we came away with the win. Well done boys. Importantly there has been some movement of teams and times so please carefully check the schedule to ensure that you attend at your teams new time and court.... We happily advise that we have been able to secure earlier training commencement times to now provide each team with a complete 1 hour session. A 10 minute changeover period between sessions will remain in place due to the ongoing COVID restrictions so we ask all teams that upon the finish of their allotted time to promptly vacate the venue to allow for the next session to commence on time. Due to some ongoing issues with our try booking link the Kings committee now requests that each player, coach and spectator complete the signing sheet prior to commencement of training and entering the venue. Could all attendees continue to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to their respective session as you will not be able to enter the venue until the previous session attendees have vacated. Lastly but most importantly the Kings have pleasingly experienced an ongoing increase in player numbers and this has allowed us to create a new U14 boys Kings Barons team. We are excited to see them take the court and represent the Kings Family. #Kingsreign

14.01.2022 #weeklyrecap U10 Boys The boys played hard the whole game and were focused on improving their individual skills to help the team. The best part was watching the boys supporting each other with encouragement and cheering.... U14 Girls Musketeers The Girls lead from the start and finished well to win the game. Many thanks to our clubmate from Jesters for stepping in to sub for the first 3 quarters. U14 Girls Dames Great to see the girls putting some of their training into action in the game this week. Strong defence in the first half and the final minutes. Exhaustion got the better of the girls in the middle of the game. U14 Girls Jesters Had a very competitive game against the top of the table team. It was close the whole way but the opposition scored some crucial baskets in the fourth quarter to get the win. The girls defended beautifully against a much taller team and some of the new skills we have been practicing at training are starting to work well. U14 Boys Dukes Implemented a new game style of play for the first time this week getting a good win as a result. We will now be along on the top of the table for our Division. We will continue to improve over the following weeks. U14 Boys Barons The boys looked and acted like a team this week. They played hard and didnt loose heart. Progress even in its smallest should be celebrated! YDL Girls Girls had a bye this week. The team will be well rested for a big training session on Wednesday. U16 Boys Dukes Snapped their losing streak with a good win over quality opposition. With every players effort on high level it showed out with a positive team result. U16 Boys Jesters The boys worked really hard on defence but their opposition was a little too strong for them. Keep remaining positive boys Our new team member Zion also made a great impression on his debut for the team. U16 Boys Barons This weekend the team really stepped up on their defence something that has been pushed from Day 1. Defence wins games, very proud of the Boys. U16 Boys Knights A well-earned Bye for the boys. U18 Boys - RC Kings The Kings lead from the start and finished strongly against the opposition. Well played team. 11.01.2022 VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED The Wellington Point Kings will be hosting the BBQ at Redlands PCYC this Sunday for the Junior Rep Carnival. We are seeking volunteers to help run the BBQ. 10.01.2022 Hey Kings Family, Please see below for our training schedule for this coming Wednesday 2nd September. The schedule remains the same as last week.... A 10 minute changeover period between sessions remains in place due to the ongoing COVID restrictions so we ask all teams that upon the finish of their allotted time to promptly vacate the venue to allow for the next session to commence on time. Importantly, could all attendees continue to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to their respective session as you will not be able to enter the venue until the previous session attendees have vacated. The Kings committee continues to request that each player, coach and spectator complete the signing sheet prior to commencement of training and entering the venue. 02.01.2022 #weeklyrecap U10 Boys The opposition made some early baskets, but the Boys worked really hard to get back into the game. After a back and forth last quarter the opposition managed to get over the line. The boys improvement has been amazing and should be proud of the effort they put in.... U12 Girls With one sub, the girls had to dig deep to keep ahead of a skilled opposition team. Well done ladies on another win. Congratulations to Eva and Hana, who then went on to win their crossover challenge at Representative level. U12 Boys Dukes The boys have come together nicely and have applied training into games. A big win for the boys. Lots of confidence. U12 Boys Knights A loss this week, however, the boys are beginning to put their training moves into practice and will only get stronger. U14 Girls Jesters & RC Dames Very close game in the first half with only 1 point separating the teams at half time. The Jesters lifted their intensity in the second half and improved their shooting accuracy which helped them get the win. Every time the Dames play they improve and if they continue to work hard at training and work on their combinations, they will become a force to be reckoned with. Well done to both teams on a great game. U14 Boys Dukes Had a tough win. The boys ran out of steam towards the end as we only had 5 players. It was a good learning experience for them to stay focused right to the end and not let the opposition come back. U14 Boys RC Only 4 players for us this week through injuries. Brave attempt from the boys. Great defence, kept the opponents from a runaway win. U14 Boys Barons Boys played with just 5 this week and were running out of steam but could see the improvement in trust and communication for only their second game together. Only way is up! U16 Boys - Knights & Dukes With a good balance on friendly rivalry and intense competition, the scores were close the whole game. Dukes were missing a couple of key players due to injury though and Knights came out winners. Welcome to new Knights player Kaleb. U16 Boys Barons Played an exciting game of basketball. Opposition got the lead but in the 4th quarter. Barons pulled back but came up just short. U16 Boys Jesters The Jesters played so well against the top of the table team. Unfortunately no win this time but plenty of experience for next time. Great job Jesters. U18 Boys Dukes It is always so much fun watching these boys play. They have great team spirit and always have a lot laughs on and off the court. The fun and banter is sweetened even more by a win though which we were able to secure Friday night. Well done boys. Never lose that love of the game. #Kingsreignhasbegun

01.01.2022 King Family, Please remember the need to be vigiliant in light of the number of new cases of COVID-19 in Queensland. If you are attending Basketball this weekend please remember to:... Arrive no earlier than 15 mins before your game. Wait for instructions from stadium supervisor for signing in and entering the stadium. Practice social distancing when waiting for those instructions and whilst throughout the stadiums. Bring your own water bottles. Leave all Basketballs at home (coaches to bring a warm up ball). Use designated ENTRYs and EXITs appropriately. Limit number of spectators to one per player. If you are feeling unwell, please stay at home and seek advice from a GP if required (VERY IMPORTANT) Stay home if you have been directed to self-isolate (VERY IMPORTANT) Together we will be able to beat this.
