22.01.2022 YEAR 12 CERTIFICATE II IN CONSTRUCTION This Year 12 Certificate II in Construction pathways students have designed and built their own dog kennels! The students have even had a go at painting them and were excited to take them home on Friday. We are all so proud of the hard work the students have put in to complete these dog kennels.

20.01.2022 YEAR 9 DRAMA Last Thursday was performance day for the Year 9 Drama students. They performed pieces from the play, Juice and all students showed up prepared, ready and put in their best efforts. Ms West and Ms Townshend were very proud of them.
20.01.2022 UNIFORM SHOP Due to COVID restrictions, parents and carers are still unable to come onto the school grounds to purchase uniforms this year. Students are welcome to visit the uniform shop during opening times to try on uniforms and then parents are encouraged to order uniforms through the QKR app before Tuesday 8th December for collection from the office up to Wednesday 9th December, when the school will close for the year. If orders are placed after this date, uniforms can b...e collected from the uniform shop between 20th 22nd January 2021 (Pupil free days). Alternatively you may come to the uniform shop on these dates to purchase uniforms. The uniform shop will be open at the following times: Wednesday 20th January 8am 2pm Thursday 21st January 7am 12pm Friday 22nd January 7am 12pm If you are unsure of sizes to order, we recommend using your child’s regular sizing as a guide. Uniforms that have been ordered and collected can be exchanged at the uniform shop for alternative sizes on the above dates. Information on how to use the QKR app is outlined in the images below. 19.01.2022 YEAR 12 EARLY CHILDHOOD STUDIES Our Year 12 Early Childhood Studies students had fun with their final assessment last week. They had to write a journal and perform an activity suitable for 3 -5 year olds that would encourage their creativity and self-expression. The focus was on the visual arts and how these can help children to develop socially, cognitively and physically.... This assessment was meant to be done with children from a local daycare centre however due to COVID adjustments were made to the task where students performed the practical component in a ‘simulated’ environment here at school. Great work to all these students!
19.01.2022 YEAR 11 & 12 CERTIFICATE II HEALTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES Students were very professional as they carried out health assessments on their peers and staff as evidence towards completion of their Certificate II last week. Keep up the great work students!

18.01.2022 YEAR 9 CAMP Our Year 9 students had an amazing time this week at the beautiful Maranatha Recreation Camp. The theme of this year’s camp was ‘Believe in Yourself’ and students got to enjoy activities such as the Tower of Tremble, Leap of Faith, canoeing, raft building, Mid Ropes and the Wappa Waterfall Walk. All the teachers and students had so much fun!

17.01.2022 SCIENCE WEEK PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION Congratulations to the winners of the photography competition run by our UQ Science Ambassadors for Science Week 2020! Students were asked to photograph their favourite landscapes in the Redlands community and provide a short caption to win some fantastic prizes! 17.01.2022 YEAR 7 MATHS In Term 3, Year 7 students learnt all about measurement. They were asked to design a package that could be used to transport stationery and craft items to our local outside of hours school care providers. The school community along with year 7 students donated a range of items that were used during class to measure and perform calculations. Students produced some excellent package designs that were mathematically justified. The coordinators from Birkdale PCYC, Birkdale South Jabiru and Wellington Point PCYC were very appreciative of the donations for their centres. Excellent job Year 7 students!

16.01.2022 YEAR 12 INDUSTRIAL SKILLS Look at the craftsmanship of these tables created by some of the students in the Year 12 Industrial Skills class. Some students even went above and beyond to create difference tabletops, with tiles or timber in a beautiful herringbone pattern. Amazing work!

14.01.2022 LITTLE STREET LIBRARY We are very excited to announce our school has won a Little Street Library courtesy of the Children’s Book Council of Australia (Queensland branch). We were kindly donated the Street Library to share our love of literature and reading with the wider community and give families the access to a wide range of reading material. Yesterday we held a small presentation ceremony at our front gate attended by Judith Russell, the Coordinator of the Kaye Throssel...l Community Projects and John Moffat from CBCA Qld where they presented the school with a plaque and donated books. We also were delighted to have Cr Wendy Boglary and Amy, Martin and Margie from Wellington Manor, the retirement village across the road attend the launch with books to donate. A big thank you to teacher Ms Robyn Barr for submitting the application and talented art teacher Mrs Tamara Beale for working her magic and painting the library for our school!

Sweet treats and savoury snacks along with freshly extracted coffee made on the new espresso machine were enjoyed by staff!... Congratulations and well done students!

13.01.2022 IN DA HOOD! Year 9 Fashionistas have just completed their fashion studies for 2020, their hoodies were completed after conducting some research into the historical relationship between the hoodie and its cultural associations such as street art, sport and criminal activity. Students have developed a range of fine motor and spacial conceptualisation skills through the construction of their hoodies. Even though we all couldn’t make it to the photo shoot I am sure you would agree it was a great way to celebrate their hoodies and the end of the term.
12.01.2022 YEAR 7 9 INCURSION DAY An active day of team building and games, problem solving and opportunities to demonstrate leadership is planned for this Friday for Year 7 9 students. Students are to wear their sports uniform and bring a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle.
12.01.2022 YEAR 11 BLOCK EXAMS Year 11 Block Exams are scheduled for Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th September. Students are only required to attend for their scheduled exam, unless they have been identified as having outstanding or incomplete work. ... Students have been emailed a copy of the exam timetable. Year 11 students have normal scheduled classes on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th and are expected to be in attendance.

11.01.2022 YEAR 11 PERFORMANCE REVIEWS All Year 11 students are required to conduct an online Performance Review with their parents/guardian and their welfare teacher. Sessions are booked through our PTO link found on the school webpage.... Interviews are 10 minutes in duration. Students will identify if they are on track to achieve their QCE and their current results. As these interviews are done online, students are not required to attend school on Friday 18th September. We look forward to updating you on how your student is tracking in the new Senior Curriculum.

10.01.2022 ENCORE DRAMA Our Encore drama students had an awesome day performing at Redlands Performing Arts Centre yesterday as part of the Scene Project run by Queensland Theatre. Our 27 students took part in workshops, performed on a professional stage (photos to come), and were treated to a professional performance by Queensland Theatre actors. Thanks to the Redland City Council, Queensland Theatre, RACQ and our talented students for an amazing day.

09.01.2022 YEAR 12 MOCK EXAMS Our Year 12 students will be engaging in Mock Exams in Week 10 in preparation for the External Exams to be held in Term 4. Students have received a personal exam timetable and a copy of the attached Mock Exam Timetable.... Students are only required to be in attendance if they have a Mock Exam or they have been identified as having outstanding/ incomplete work. All Year 12 students are required to attend school on Thursday morning for a scheduled presentation.

Date and lemons scones along with the lemonade scones came out as the overall winners. This is preparation for their upcoming coffee shop assessment task next term. Yum!

This will be strictly for parents of new Year 7 students only. The pop-up shop will take credit card only or you may gauge sizes, order online and collect in the new year. 01.01.2022 YEAR 7 ART Students have been working on a Landmark unit with an Indigenous perspective in their art class. Last week they learnt techniques and applications for dot painting and applied those techniques to create their own personal symbols on black paper. Students were invited to then submit their artwork to display in the library. Incredible work everyone!
