18.01.2022 A Christmas message from the Mayor Hello, what a year it has been! Covid has changed the way we work, study, play, connect the lot. It’s changed Christmas, too Santa is wearing a mask and end-of-year parties have been a little smaller than usual, but families and friends will still come together and reflect on a year that we made it through as a strong community. As Mayor of Wellington Shire Council and on behalf of my fellow Councillors, I want to wish you all a safe... and happy festive season. Celebrations have started with the launch of The Middle of Everywhere Wellington activation campaign, which will help businesses recover by bringing visitors back to our region and encouraging the support local movement. And Council is helping our hospitality sector get back on its feet as well as improving parks, pools, playgrounds and sports centres to make sure we make the most of the travel influx. Let’s maintain our community spirit - check in with neighbours who might find themselves alone at Christmas and friends who might still be doing it tough. And wherever you spend Christmas, I wish you health, happiness and a much better year ahead. From the Mayor, Cr Garry Stephens.
