16.01.2022 There is a growing impetus for hospitals, healthcare clinics and other treatment centres to design spaces that help promote well-being. This supports the notion that our environment, or what constantly surrounds us, can contribute to healing if only by reducing the stress of illness. This trend has led to some truly creative therapy spaces like the ‘Winter Garden’ at The Christie’s Proton Beam Therapy Centre in the UK. The Centre provides high-precision radiotherapy to trea...t cancer. The Winter Garden was designed to create a ‘comforting, relaxing and artful escape’ for patients, visitors and staff. Drawing from the tranquillity of a forest canopy, clusters of green, acrylic pyramids were installed to create a sense of being among nature. Motion lights are used to conjure flickering sunlight, mimicking the experience of sitting underneath a grove of trees with the sun shining through. 07.01.2022 Creating an identity and website for the National COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce has been the highlight of our working year. The website houses Australia's living guidelines for COVID-19 a world-first initiative in the fight against coronavirus. Last week, the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, commended the taskforce for its work and Taskforce Executive Director, A/Prof Julian Elliott, was invited to speak to the media. Julian emphasised the critical importance of be...ing guided by evidence in a time of great uncertainty and conjecture, and acknowledged the tireless contributions of taskforce members and contributors to deliver reliable, up-to-date, evidence-based guidance for clinicians during a time of fast-paced research and swirling media interest. We are immensely proud of the website and the important role it is playing in guiding our healthcare workforce during this crisis.
