17.01.2022 Walk this way ... Anyone else into soft-sand running? I used to tear up the beach for all of the years we were at Bondi, doing kilometer after kilometer and not thinking it was harder than a normal jog. Weeeeeell.. let’s just say that I probably didn’t realise back then how fit I was .... I tried running soft sand this morning - roughly half a kilometer, Avalon south to north-end. 14.01.2022 When I hear this quote, it takes me back to a memory of being around 13 years old, super excited for our upcoming family holiday in Greece. The anticipation one night before the trip was high and I felt euphoric. Remember saying "Oh my GOD I cannot believe that we are going to be in Greece TOMORROW!". The trip was as expected phenomenal however I also remember thinking on several occasions that, 'How strange, I still just feel like me'. Same thing happened when I in 2010... I moved to NYC. I thought that it would change me, that I would be on an all-time high, drinking gigantic Starbucks coffees everyday and high-fiving people as I walked down the street. The novelty wore off after a few weeks. Whilst I had an amazing time, the chores of everyday life caught up quickly. I was still me, in NYC - there I was. Isn't is ironic that no matter how much we want to be different, more successful perhaps or for things to change, wherever we go, there we are. Win the lottery - there we are. Move overseas - there we are. Go on holiday - there we are. Whatever we are doing and wherever we are doing it, we are looking at the world through the same pair of eyes. It seems as though, after we have a win or loss in life, we eventually come to our usual trajectory and continue to travel at our own level of happiness in life. I truly believe many people believe happiness is elsewhere ~ someplace other than here, and they spend a lot of time looking for it. Perhaps if we learn to stop and smell the flowers, practice a little more gratitude everyday we can all realise that happiness is already within. See more

14.01.2022 ~LUMI~ This little mungbean means the world to me. Having recently turned 3 and had a new little sister arrive only one day after, she is dealing with some preeetty big emotions at the moment and we are doing our best to guide her through them Last week, Lumi had come home from a day at mum and dads house and was so overtired that she didn't want to go to sleep. At around 9.15 pm she had a small meltdown when Evan didn't allow her to sleep in the top-bunk, fo...r the risk of her falling when climbing down in the middle of the night. Trying to talk sense to a tired 3-year old... When she has her tantrums these days we usually just sit and hold space for her until she calms down. Reasoning with her only adds fuel to the fire and she takes it up one pitch. She eventually calms, we hug it out and talk about why she felt so upset. Most nights we play musical beds in our house and by 9.30 that night we were all asleep on the big bed. There was a loud bang on the door. Not a 'neighbours-knock' but rather a 'there-is-a-fire-get-out!' type bang. Evan got to the door first. Outside there were two policemen, stating that someone walking by outside had reported a screaming child... If nothing else, it is good that people are reacting to children being in distress. It was also a good story to tell Miss Lumi when she woke up the next morning, that Mr Policeman had knocked on our door because she wasn't listening to daddy.. See more

14.01.2022 The best job! Three best tips I have received so far, balancing being a parent and working full-time. 1. Don’t try to do both at once, be organised and have a clear roster for when you work. Trying to answer emails, take phone calls etc. with kids hanging off you will make you stressed and likely to feel like you are failing at both roles!... 2. Ask for help.. Delegate in the business and get help at home. We have a cleaner weekly now, GODSEND, I could not cope otherwise! 3. Realise your limitations and communicate to staff & customers well in advance. Technology has its advantages of course however, I cannot always wrap my head around all calendar-invites , electronic meeting notes , zoom-meetings etc. I prefer to write in my red notebook and keep our monthly calendar at home handwritten on the fridge. ...
