25.01.2022 ? Traditional bolster pillows have been around a long time. A bolster is a long, firm, narrow, often cylindrical cushion or pillow that is placed under other pillows for support on a bed or a sofa. You can still buy bolster pillows to provide greater support for both day and night today. But more specifically what is a yoga bolster?... A yoga bolster is a popular yoga accessory used to provide comfort, support poses and increase stretching during restorative postures and deep breathing exercises. Most of the yoga accessories that we consider popular now like the yoga bolster werent really used much within a yoga practice until the 1960s, when yoga teachers such as B.K.S. Iyengar noticed that many of their students had trouble maintaining proper posture in certain poses due to injury or lack of flexibility. Iyengar therefore developed and introduced props and equipment to help people access poses with greater comfort and better form. What is a yoga bolster used for? Bolsters are widely used in restorative yoga classes, like yin yoga. A bolster can be placed under various parts of the body for firm yet comfortable support to encourage total release, relaxation and greater access to the focus area of a yoga pose. Restorative yoga can have a deeply soothing effect on the mind and nervous system think of a bolster as restorative yogas best friend!

So how can you combat a lack of vitamin D ... Its easy! Try to spend some time in the sun just 5 minutes in your garden a day is a start, and eat foods rich in Vitamin D My fav way is with my plant based protein powder which contains mushroom, a known plant source of vitamin D Perfect if your a choc lover and not a shroom lover

06.01.2022 Mondays LIVE - Yin Yoga

05.01.2022 , ? yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, tendons, joints, and bones. Its a slow style of yoga, involves floor based poses that can be held for up to 5 minutes at a time. Its a more meditative style of yoga, giving you space and time to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body.... ? Yes, there are plenty of physical health benefits to practicing yin yoga, but there are plenty of mental health ones, too. Below are some of the most popular, from stretching your connective tissue to reducing stress and anxiety. 1. Lengthens connective tissue Think of your fascia like shrink wrap around your muscles and bones. When this connective tissue is underused, it becomes less elastic which can lead to aches and stiffness. 2. Increases flexibility Elastic fascia and mobile joints lead to better flexibility, which is one of the key benefits to a regular yin yoga practice. Because fascia needs at least 120 seconds of sustained stretching to actually affect its elasticity, yin is one of the most effective ways at improving your flexibility and releasing tension in tight spots thanks to its long holds. 3. Boosts your circulation By breathing into each pose and targeting your deeper tissues and ligaments, you bring more oxygen into your body and to your muscles. This helps increase your blood flow and circulation. 4. Reduces stress levels That calm you feel after a yin class is very realstudies have found yin yoga to have a significant impact on lowering stress and anxiety and reducing the risk of depression. Plus, it activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which calms your body and slows your heart rate (rather than the autonomic nervous system, which triggers your fight-or-flight response). ? Many of us live fast-paced, active lives, whether were going for a run, powering through an Fitness class, or playing our favourite sport. Yin yoga is the perfect balance to those intense exercises, providing a slower, more meditative counterpart to help you round out your workouts. Yin yoga is also for anyone who is dealing with injuries or a chronic condition like arthritis or osteoporosis as this style in particular is a more restorative practice than other forms of exercise. Yin can also be a great starting point for anyone interested in meditation as it has such an internal focus. . Yin yoga isnt your typical sweaty, intense vinyasa flow. But that doesnt make it any less of a workoutgive it a try to experience its many physical and mental health benefits for yourself. Book your place today

03.01.2022 A very interesting listen for anyone who is a parent... I am all for living life beyond a screen - I am of the opinion it is completely changing the neurochemistry of our brains - and not in a good way https://abclisten.page.link/GPVGzegmsift723C9

02.01.2022 . So often we go around and around is circles feeling uneasy with the world, where we are meant to be, or our place in it all. Our single purpose is to live our experiences. To be in the moment, every moment. And to wake up and experience the joy and connection that is around us everywhere.... Learn how to be present. Learn how to be an observing witness and the rest will unfold. #yinyoga

01.01.2022 ... A body that feels good and is functional. A mind that is calculated and happy with life. But how do we get here?... As the saying goes you are what you eat. The food you eat is literally broken down to nourish, fuel and rebuild the body. We need a wide assortment of nutrients for healthy cell function, renewal and to prevent damage. But hell good food is expensive!!! And up here, our produce it not always optimal quality by the time we purchase it. The other day, I spent $20 on vegetables alone just to make one stir fry!!! Times that by 7 days a week, I am looking at $140 a week for nutrient dense and diverse dinner meals. I dont know about you, but for me thats a lot of money spent on food. I do the best I can to buy produce on special, locally and whats in season to keep my food bills down without sacrificing whats best for my body and long term health. But to be honest I worried for a long time that it was just not going to cut it. So for that last 12 months I turned to wholefood capsules to close the gap between whats best for my body and whats best for my wallet. What are these wholefood capsules ? They are fruits and veg shredded into pulp and then dehydrated to remove all the water. Whats left? nutrient retained, fruit and vegetable fibre thats popped in a vegan cap. Each cap contains approx. 1kg of produce prior to water removal. Thats equivalent in weight to 2 heads of broccoli!!! But the best thing is its not just broccoli; its kale, spinach, carrots, cabbage, garlic and more all shredded together and then dehydrated to a nutrient dense powder. Based on taking 2 veggie capsules and 2 fruit capsules daily, I am consuming the nutrient equivalent of a small fruit&veggie box EVERYDAY!! The result? I feel pretty damn good! I feel good. I move well. I feel positive. I have energy. I sleep like a log. My nails and hair grows at an outstanding rate (not good for my salon bills!). And am content in the piece of mind that I am supporting my bodys health for the long term. And the best bit of all it only costs me just over $80 a month, A MONTH!! Thats $20 a week hell thats the price of my one stir-fry!!! So now when I go fruit and veg shopping I buy what my wallet is comfortable with and I shop sustainably with whats in season. I dont worry if I havent eaten kale or celery in a while because I know that I am getting it every day REGARDLESS. Thats piece of mind right there. Want to know more? 01.01.2022 Now more than ever I am so grateful for these little suckers... I know that no matter what the day brings, whatever stress is laid on, no matter how busy I get, that I have already done my very best to support my internal wellbeing and functioning with one simple step. I dont need to think.... I dont need to plan. I can simply automate my nutrition. And in exchange, I automate my health. And I know based on this one simple step, by this one simple act of taking wholefood fruit and veg capsules with my breakfast, I am flooding my body with the nutrients and enzymes it needs to function at a high level and protect me during time of stress. I am clear I am sharp And I have never felt better So so so grateful for these.
