23.01.2022 Loaded plant based banana pancakes Mate, these are goooood like real good, and real easy. Weekend brekkie inspo anyone?... Ingredients: 1 big ass ripe banana 1 1/4 cup plain flour 2 Tbsp sugar 1 Tbsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon 1 Tbsp olive oil + more for frying 3/4 cup plant Milk 1 tsp vanilla extract Method: 1. Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon in a bowl. 2. Mash the banana in a separate bowl and add the olive oil, plant milk and vanilla. 3. Combine the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients until evenly mixed through. 4. Heat a pan on a medium heat, with a lil' olive oil and when hot, add some batter. When you get even bubbles all over the top and flip! 5. After a few minutes (keep an eye on it) and when you've got a gorgeous golden colour on both sides you're good to go! 6. 22.01.2022 These muffins are adapted from a recipe that has been a staple through out my life. A triple threat in my opinion, 1. I often have these ingredients on hand, 2. They freeze well yeow and... 3. they make the best after lunch sweet treat, accompanied by a cuppa tea. So here's my take on zesty lemon & bursty raspberry muffins. You need: - greased muffin tray - 2.5 cups of SRF... - 1/2 tsp of bicarb soda - 3/4 cup of sugar - rind from 1 lemon - 2 eggs, beaten - 1 cup milk of your choice - 1/4 cup of olive oil - 1 cup of frozen raspberries How you create this masterpiece: Pre-heat the oven to 180. Combine SRF, bicarb soda, sugar and rind in a bowl. Make a well in the middle and slowly add eggs, milk and oil. Then at the end stir in the raspberries. Be careful not to over mix because you want some of them to stay whole. Cook for about 20mins.

21.01.2022 We hear this a lot. Like a lot. "I need to cut back on sugar" "I know I should eat less sugar" "I definitely eat too much sugar"... "I know sugar is bad" "I'm addicted to sugar" We completely understand why people have these opinions about sugar. The incredibly long lasting effects of the media, food industry, health professionals....people who think they're health professionals and even public health campaigns from the government have fear mongered us into believing that all of our health issues stem from 1 single nutrient, sugar. We have SO many things to say on the topic, but the big one would be... When we start labelling foods as bad, we tend to cut them out of our lives (or at least try to). Eg: I'll stop eating chocolate, remove all chocolate and other related foods from cupboard. 3pm arrives, all you can think about it chocolate. You ignore the cue and reach for something else. It doesn't satisfy you, you can't stop thinking about chocolate. You go and buy chocolate and eat all of it. You feel bad. A common scenario where our bodies ancestral traits are literally fighting against you. We were built not to cut food out of our diet, because back in the day if foods were cut out, this would signal our starvation cues and we would go into hunt mode to seek out food! Next time this feeling arises and you really want to eat chocolate- break off a piece, go and sit somewhere comfortable, it it with real curiosity then wait 15 minutes. See how that feels. If you still want more, repeat. If not, move on with your day. Time to stop the 'good' and 'bad' camp when it comes to foods. As soon as you start labelling food this way that moral judgement falls onto you. Foods are not good or bad, they're just food. 20.01.2022 FOOD LOOKS FLOP BUT TASTES GOOD ALERT Look, this may have looked like a dogs breakfast but IT WAS THE BEST PIZZA I'VE EVER MADE FROM SCRATCH Yes, I made a pizza base and no, I didn't have a sourdough starter and no it didn't take 5 billion hours to make.... It was the EASIEST pizza base in this universe AND it's so light and fluffy and just good! I used @jamieoliver 's kids IG @cookingbuddiesclub pizza base recipe lol, if kids can do it, you can do it: Ingredients: 2 3/4 cups of self raising flour 1 cup of greek yoghurt (might need the tiniest bit more if your dough is SUPER dry but bare with it) Method: 1. Heat your oven as high as it can go (yes, feels wrong but do it) 2. Mix in the yoghurt into the flour with a spatula until it's really not stirring anymore. 3. Then knead with your hands to combine it all together. 4. Knead on a floured surface until the dough is smoothish and you've got in into a large ball. 5. Cut dough into 2. 6. Roll each of them out into circles (lol to mine in the pic) 7. Place on a baking tray, add sauce and toppings (anything you like) 8. We took this at my old place (surprisingly in my real shit fridge) thinking this was the type of imagery we needed to have on our website and socials, because why would anyone want to look at what our ACTUAL fridge looks like?! PS. No one's fridge looks like this- how ridic that we felt we had to make images that look like this to feel validation?! The photo on the right: I took this the other day in my new place in a brand new delightful two door fridge (yes, I am now officially an adult who owns a boss ass fridge) and THIS IS IRL! This is what my ACTUAL fridge looks like. This is what most people's fridges look like- containers with left overs, half a tomato wrapped in wrap, jars of stuff, a crisper with both fresh and very sad veggies that you think you'll use in a stir fry on Sunday night but never do (hello compost). 16.01.2022 Let’s get our guac on, with this amazing avo salsa. Super fresh, light and tasty! It’s a great afternoon snack or starter before a mexi feast. Recipe below! INGREDIENTS: 1 multigrain tortilla 1/2 avocado, diced... 5 cherry tomatoes, halved 1 fresh corn cob, remove kernels 1 slice of red onion, diced 1/2 lime Salt and pepper HOW? 1. Place tortilla on a baking tray lined with baking paper and place under the grill, occasionally turning. Remove once lightly browned. 2. Place all other ingredients in a small ramekin, squeeze with lime juice and season with salt and pepper. 3. Slice tortilla into wedges, dip into salsa and enjoy!

12.01.2022 This is one seriously easy (but impressive looking & tasty) dinner. We were recently #gifted some amazing @barillaaus casarecce pasta and thought it was the perfect opportunity to create this burnt butter, sage & mushroom pasta. For those who want to play along at home, check out our recipe below. Thangs you will need: - Packet of pasta, we used Barilla's Collezione Casarecce - 1/3 cup of macadamias, halved ... - 150g butter - 25 leaves of sage - 1 tsp garlic - 375g mushrooms, sliced (about 5 big portobello mushies) - 1 lemon zest - Couple of handfuls of rocket - Parmesan on top How we create this master piece: Roast the macadamias in the oven for about 10 mins at 200 degrees until golden. Boil the pasta as per instructions (and make sure you save about a tbsp of the water). Melt the butter in a fry pan and fry the sage leaves until crispy (about 4 mins), remove from the fry pan. Add garlic and saute the mushrooms until deliciously golden (about 5mins). Add the pasta into the pan, along with the lemon zest, rocket, reserved water. Top with macadamia, sage leaves & parmesan.

I always love my time with Kate, learning so much about growing a business, sustainable living, her appreciation of nature and the incredible perspective she has on li...fe. I'm a mega fan girl, and know you'll love hearing from her... Tell us about yourself & your business: My name is Kate and I live on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. I’m a trained silversmith and hand make jewellery that is inspired by objects I have collected from nature. I am passionate about caring for the environment and living a sustainable life. I spend as much time as I can outdoors and love swimming, free diving, hiking and gardening. Why did you start your business? I studied metal work at uni and fell in love with the process and really couldn’t imagine not doing something creative with my life. I loved the idea of working for myself and doing something I was truly passionate about even if it felt like a huge risk at the time. I was lucky to be in my early 20’s and still living at home when I started out so there wasn’t a lot to lose and I knew I would always wonder what if, if I didn’t give it a red hot crack! What do you have going on at the mo? Online sales have been going off during Melbourne Lockdown so that is keeping me very busy in my studio. I’m also working on developing and expanding my engagement ring range to offer an alternative ring option for the adventurous ladies who aren’t necessarily after your typical solitaire diamond ring Stay tuned! What do you think has been a strength of yours in supporting your business? I’m very passionate about what I do and genuinely look forward to going to work each day. I pour a lot of love into each and every piece and I like to think this shows. My customers tend to share my love of the outdoors, which makes it easy for me to build a relationship with them. I have a lot of repeat loyal customers for this reason, many of which I now feel like are my friends! I know I am very fortunate to have my dream job and work for myself but can never become complacent because you just can’t predict what’s around the corner(cough COVID19!) so I work extremely hard. Despite the unsettling times we are in, I think it’s also an exciting time to have a small business. I feel more than ever that people are wanting to support local, buy handmade and think about where their dollars are going. If you could tell a younger you one thing what would it be? If you work hard and trust in your ability you will get where you need to be! Don’t listen to people who say that you can’t make a living as an artist. Hard work and loving what you do will not only support you financially but make you so happy!

02.01.2022 Clean eating is a myth. There are a few way that food can be dirty however: if it has literally been covered in dirt eg: potatoes grow underneath the ground and are covered in dirt (so are many other vegetables). if they are past their best before eg: eating meat passed it's used by isn't recommended- that's when bacteria that can f you up starts to grow...... if they have been produced in a place that hasn't adhered to food safety standards eg: a worker bee didn't wash their hands after going to poopy town. Foods are not "clean" or "dirty" aka let's be honest, what is really being said here is "good" or "bad". Yes some foods have a more diverse nutrient profile than others but all foods play a role in our lives. 01.01.2022 End of week wtf is for dinner AND don't want takeout? Try THIS! Easiest pumpkin soup there ever was. Ingredients:... Pre roasting: 1 butternut pumpkin (cut into ~3cm cubes) 1 brown onion (cut into chunks) 1 tsp cinnamon powder 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil Pinch of salt and cracked pepper After roasting has finished: 3 cups of veggie stock (hot) Yoghurt for topping Bread (for us it's generally outta the freezer and toasted with a good slab of butter). Method: 1. put it all in an oven tray and pop in the oven at 180 degrees celsius for around 45 mins until golden and a little crispy. 2. Once roasted place in a deep bowl along with the veggie stock and whiz with a hand mixer until desired consistency. 3. Serve with yoghurt and bread. 01.01.2022 Who DOESN'T love brownie? I genuinely think this one was one of the most delicious I've ever made. The quality of the chocolate makes a huge difference so I'd strongly suggest a change up in that department. Why we love cooking, baking and candlestick making so much (that's 100% not how that saying goes...): it can be relaxing- almost an escape from the grind of the daily online slog it can be a creative outlet- taking creative liberty on recipes can be fun, also... plating up food with all of the bells and whistles (herbs and spices, garnishes and toppings- we eat with more than our mouth people). it can be a love language- for us, we actually enjoy cooking and baking for others, food is SO much more than a bunch of nutrients floating around in the mush, it's a social outlet, a celebration, a gift, an emotional comfort. I baked this bad boy for Dave's bday a few weeks back and it was the most gooey, crispy, fudgy, rich, decadent of them all.
