04.01.2022 As wellness practitioners, avoiding overwhelm is essential if you’re going to be there for your clients when they reach out to you But staying centred through a stressful period in your business or personal life is easier said than done Even if you have your own wisdom and modality to keep you grounded, you’re still human. From time to time, you may need to draw on external techniques and resources to help you avoid overwhelm and keep putting one foot in front of the o...ther. Here’s a technique that you can use to stay on top of day-to-day business tasks: Draw up an action list, including everything you need to get done over the course of the week. Then prioritize your action list using a colour coded system Here’s an example: I must do this today (avoid more than three reds per day) I would like to do this today I’ll do this today if I have time left over How do you choose which tasks to prioritize? When you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s useful to prioritizes dollar producing activities, ie. the work that gives you the greatest chance of getting a client booking. When you’re struggling to stay afloat, it’s essential to protect your business and keep moving forward. So in this situation, cash is key There will be time once you’ve restored your balance to tackle more expansive, long-term challenges.

Holding in mind a crystal clear, long term vision can be super inspiring and drive your mission, but when you’re struggling to think clearly and lacking the energy to accomplish necessary tasks, it’s useful to focus on the little actions that are guaranteed to take you towards that goal. Begin by looking at what you have to accomplish today and see if you can break your work down into a list of small tasks. Get as granular as you can with thisif a small task can be broken down into two smaller tasks, write down the two smaller tasks. Then find the smallest one that you can do right now, and do that. Make sure that each task you choose to do takes you one step towards achieving your goals. Leave more open-ended tasks for a day when you’re feeling more inspired.
