24.01.2022 Conscious Estrangement For my dear readers in the Southern Hemisphere, I’m sure you can feel the excitement stirring in your belly, brought on by the increase i...n light, the frogsong, the chirping of birds, the warming of the breeze. While in the North, we are seeing things falling, colours fading, counting our resources for the long months ahead. We often hear about the triumph of Spring, the pushing up through the soil, the blossoming, the renewal of energy. But I like to praise the long withstanding of the dark. The faith required by those tiny seeds, buried deep in the dark earth, in the faintest whisper of knowing in their hearts, without any evidence or proof, of an above-ground world filled with light and warmth. As the tiny shoots finally catch the first glimpse of their big dreams coming true, they are at their most vulnerable. Still tender with exhaustion and disbelief, they brave themselves into the world. But any sudden frost or unexpected snow could bury them before they begin! There is a temptation to spring, to push, to race with the growing energy of this time, yet it’s essential, as we make the transition into the life we long for, to move with a respect for the darkness in which our dream was originally gestated. We have a powerful opportunity as we cross the threshold into the next season of our lives, to come in to a deeper conviction with our knowing what we know; the healthy instinct. But to do this, we need to make a conscious estrangement from that dark ground which has held us, but which becomes harmful when we linger in it too long. There is a natural partnership between emergence and estrangement. We think of estrangement as a condition that pushes us outside of love. The word itself locates us in relation to that which we've left, or been exiled. Estrangement is only a terrible place to be so long as we orient ourselves by another's locus, or definition of "inside." As we step into the capacities of our next becoming, we must do two things: The first is to come into conversation with that pulse of vitality and originality which is naturing through us, which is saying yes. And the other is to meet, name and unhinder ourselves from the influence of unnecessary doubt. How long have we mistrusted ourselves, because we were told the less-traveled path was dangerous? How long have we been blunted by following those with wounded instincts? Conscious Estrangement is the inner declaration that we have chosen this place, either in the act of exile, or after the fact. Home beckons us every single day. At first it may come in a small, barely audible voice, but it definitely knows your name. It starts with a dream, a déjà -vu, a surge of emotion, or an inexplicable familiarity in a stranger’s face. And if you take the risk to follow those yesses, they grow a little louder and more obvious. 21.01.2022 Why Astrology? I remember the first time I heard an astrologer explain my life situation through the interpretation of my birth chart. Their words affirmed me in a way that invited my bones to settle and my muscles to relax. My being recognised the rhythm of the cycle her words described. As I orientated, I understood there is an ongoing, mysterious unfolding. And I questioned how might I lean into it a little more? 11.01.2022 The powerhouse planets Pluto and Saturn will both be moving forward in Capricorn in October, after stationing direct last month. Consequently, we will have the ...ability to focus on our long-term ambitions. We could also see governments and other large institutions implementing internal changes that have been in development over the past six months. A feeling of forward momentum will encourage business activity, especially since Mars will clear the shadow phase of its last retrograde cycle by the 8th. Financial transactions and economic development could experience a slowdown, however, because of the Venus retrograde (October 5 to November 16). Additionally, Uranus will continue its retrograde path through Taurus, a sign associated with money and resources. The overall mood will be one of taking cautious steps forward. It would be wise to manage finances carefully and avoid making large purchases or investments this month if possible. Efforts to repurpose existing resources or renegotiate business agreements will be supported. When it comes to decisions regarding money or close relationships, we would be well advised to do our homework and look to the past for valuable lessons.
