24.01.2022 ESOTERIC ACUPUNCTURE I'm excited to offer Esoteric Acupuncture having experienced and seen the benefits ranging from immediate shifts to breakthroughs in consciousness. Esoteric Acupuncture is a synthesis of Chinese Medical theory, the Hindu Chakra system, sacred geometry and the Flower of Life. Developed by Dr Mikio Sankey, who ran Advanced Energy healing workshops in Australia for several years and which I've since followed up with other courses. The aim is to move beyond the treatment of dis - ease to increase wellbeing by balancing our energy field at more subtle frequencies outside the body. The sequencing patterns can be initiated with needles, tuning fork, crystal wand or sword depending on what's best for the client.
21.01.2022 DEEP BREATHING EXERCISE Autumn is the time of the Metal Element which corresponds to the Lungs. Usually we automatically shallow breathe from the top third of our lungs but adopting deep, focused breathing has so many benefits (reduces stress & anxiety, improves immunity, vitality, sleep pattern and more.) Breathe deeply through your nose into your lungs and feel the diaphragm move lower. Get into a slow steady rhythm by placing your hands on the navel and feel it expand during inhalation (count to 5), then hold for 5 and exhale gently for 5. Feel your chest, shoulders and back of your neck start to relax as you breathe deeper. Being aware of your back ribs moving is particularly relaxing. Make it a habit - just a few minutes a day.
16.01.2022 SUMMER: THE FIRE ELEMENT In Chinese Medicine by drawing on the energy of each season, we become better attuned to our physical health, emotions and lifestyles. The annual cycle of the 5 Elements are Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood. We are moving from the Wood Element of springtime associated with vision, drive and action into Fire with the zenith of heat under summer sun. Fire is the most Yang or energetic of the 5 Elements: the time of light, warmth, long days, abundance and expansion. Summer is the time for relaxation and enjoyment but as the heat dries out vegetation we are also mindful of the potential for bushfires.
15.01.2022 DIET TIPS FOR SPRING In winter our bodies store increased fat for energy and in spring, as no longer needed our appetite reduces, so this is an easier time to lose weight. Reduce Toxins The Liver processes toxins in the body and emotions. Try to minimise coffee and alcohol, especially in spring as these cause heat and can lead to anger & headaches. Try to avoid processed foods (with artifical sweeteners), source free-range meat -free of growth hormones & anti-biotics, and ho...usehold chemicals. Think Green & Sour Green is the colour of plants and the Wood Element so focus on eating plenty of fresh, leafy green vegetables: broccoli, kale, spinach, peas, beans, alfalfa and especially green shoots. The Liver's taste is sour so if have this craving, try a little of vinegar, kombucha, pickles, lemon or granny smith apples. However if you feel heated or angry cut out sour foods and replace with natural sweet foods.
15.01.2022 HEALTH TIPS FOR HAYFEVER RELIEF Hobart is renowned for being windy in springtime & spreading grass pollens. In Chinese Medicine, Wind disrupts circulation of our protective mechanisms leading to hayfever. The root cause though lies with low immunity initiated often with busy lifestyles, overwork, feeling rundown, winter flu bugs etc. Acupuncture effectively targets both the inflammation of the upper respiratory tract caused by excess histamine and importantly by strengthening... the immune system. REDUCE EXPOSURE TO POLLENS: * If windy, minimise outdoor exposure; when outside: wear wrap-around sunglasses, keep warm & wear a scarf. * Don't hang washing outdoors if windy as it's a pollen trap. * When returning indoors, take a shower and change clothes. * Rinse nose & eyes with saline spray before sleep (Neti pot). * Clear nostrils by inhalation with peppermint, eucalyptus oil or Tiger Balm. * Limit or avoid dairy and gluten foods as can increase mucous. ACUPRESSURE TO RELIEVE CONGESTION Circling your thumbs, start at the lower, outer edges of the nostrils and rub up the sides, then along your eyebrows, in the centre below the eyes, temples and finish by tapping on the upper chest.
14.01.2022 CHRISTMAS FUN - OR STRESS!! It's hard to stay calm when there's so much to organise, catering for parties and family gatherings, and choosing the perfect present for everyone. Here are a few tips to help you stay on top and stay chilled!! 1) What keeps you grounded? "ME Time" is vital.... Take the dog for a walk, exercise, have a hot bath with essential oils, mindfulness or a read before bed, meet a friend, or at least have a break and a cuppa. 2) What's the most important? Planning is essential: writing lists and prioritise. Don't worry or preferably ignore the small stuff. 3) Think of short cuts and time savers. Enrol family members to help out on big tasks -or even better, for those you don't enjoy. 4) Stick with what you know and works well: forget diving into new recipes on the big day and raising stress levels. 5) Don't bottle up stress - it will lead to more, increase muscle tension and weaken your immune system.
13.01.2022 SPRING: LIVER & GALLBLADDER In Chinese Medicine the Liver & Gllbladder are at their peak during springtime. The Liver is responsible for the smooth flow of Qi - or vital energy - around the body and this includes the emotions. It also maintains the body's homeostasis, stores blood, and flexibility of joints and tendons. During winter fats are stored in the body to protect against against cold. In spring, metabolism naturally increases so now is a good time to de-tox and lose... weight! When the body-mind is stressed, in Chinese Medicine the Liver's job of maintaining the free flow of Qi and blood can become sluggish leading to stagnation and blockage. If this happens the Liver can overact and adversely affect other organs resulting in symptoms such as abdominal bloating, IBS, migraines, PMS, painful periods, stiff neck and tiredness. Emotionally mood swings, irritability, anger, melancholia and both body & mind feeling constantly tense & on edge are common treated in clinic.
12.01.2022 ESOTERIC ACUPUNCTURE: ADVANCED ENERGY HEALING Esoteric Acupuncture focuses on wellbeing rather than physical symptoms. This energy healing assists in releasing suppressed emotional blocks, stilling the mind and harmonising the heart - our spiritual centre. Calm and deep relaxation are experienced. Esoteric Acupuncture integrates sacred geometry, the Chinese meridian system and Five Elements, the Hindu chakras and the Flower of Life. During a treatment, sacred geometric patter...ns are connected by activating acupuncture points either by needling, sound or crystal sword. I'm excited to offer advanced energy healing having completed the final certificate in Esoteric Acupuncture and enjoy seeing the positive changes and breakthroughs in consciousness that clients are experiencing.
12.01.2022 SUMMER: The FIRE Element The energy of each season in Chinese Medicine is reflected and honoured to better attune us to our physical health, emotions and lifestyle. The cycle of the 5 Elements are Fire, Earth (late summer), Metal (autumn), Water (winter) and Wood (spring). The Fire Element is associated with summer sun and heat, being the most Yang and energetic of the 5 Elements: the time of light, warmth, abundance, expansion, relaxation and enjoyment.
10.01.2022 TRANSITIONING INTO WINTER Chinese Medicine works closely with the seasonal cycle. The onset of winter signifies the most Yin part of the year being cold, dark, quiet, hidden and still. The time for hibernation and conserving reserves. Winter is the end of the year's cycle and also the start of rebirth into next spring.
06.01.2022 SPRING: The WOOD Element Chinese medicine pays close attention to the seasons and how they affect our health and wellbeing. Spring's arrival bursts forth bringing renewed vitality and optimism as the Yang energy expands with green shoots and rapid growth as the Yin of winter recedes. The potential laid in bulbs and seeds during winter is expanding from shoots, closed buds and opening up into flowers. Similarly increased Yang energy drives us to initiate new goals and projects. In spring the weather can be unpredictable seesawing from warm sunshine to cold, even snow and strong winds. So like trees it's important for us to grow deep roots and reach outward to channel this increased energy, while being flexible like bamboo bending with winds of growth.
04.01.2022 HEALTH TIPS FOR SPRING: Get MOVING and STRETCHING Moving forward is fundamental for the Wood Element which controls ligaments and tendons essential to co-ordinate movement. Get in touch with your body by stretching and spending time outdoors. How often do we feel better and refreshed going for a brisk walk along the beach or in the bush? It's a great time to start exercising eg join a walking club, yoga, swimming, Tai Chi to relax our body and mind helping us to de-stress and sleep better.
