15.01.2022 #NAIDOC2020 Always Was, Always Will Be. Wellsprings for Women join NAIDOC week in acknowledging and celebrating the fact that First Nations People have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. ... "This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples." @naidocweek Always Was, Always Will Be. #alwayswasalwayswillbe #NAIDOC2020 See more

15.01.2022 Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and marks the start of 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence. Violence against women is a world-wide pandemic caused by entrenched systems of patriarchy which while it privileges men, it also locks both men and women into rigid roles that are harmful to both. We know that here in Australia and around the world thousands of women continue to live in abusive relationships. Leaving is a ve...ry difficult choice to make. Abuse is not just physical, but also emotional, financial, sexual and spiritual. To mark this day, we bring you Zeinab's story. A story that illustrates the intersection of migration and family violence and the conundrum of leaving a relationship when you have no other supports. https://youtu.be/Eo2w1StwEvs #16days #16daysofactivism #respectis #callitout #16dayscampaign

13.01.2022 "One in five mums will experience perinatal anxiety and / or depression. We also know that a significant number of non birth parents experience similar rates of mental illness. Left untreated, these illnesses can have long-lasting impacts on parents, partners, baby and the rest of the family. The key to getting help is being able to recognise that something is wrong and being brave enough to ask for help to ‘tell someone who cares’. That might be talking to your partner, c...hild and family health nurse, doctor or PANDA’s National Helpline. Learn more about the signs and symptoms via the link on the panda website. 01.01.2022 Yesterday, Wellsprings held a small virtual AGM. It was a change to our usual room full of supporters from the wider community, but seemed fitting after this tough year and in complying with current restrictions. Small as it was, we had many achievements to celebrate and challenges to reflect upon. We invite you to read about what we have been up to in our 2019/2020 Annual Report which can be viewed here: http://www.wellspringsforwomen.com//Annual-Report-2020-.pdf
