01.01.2022 It is no secret that I am a sucker for sweet treats and trust me there is NOTHING wrong with enjoying a treat or two, every now and again! But what happens when you don't realise you're "enjoying" a sweet treat, because it is disguised as a "healthy snack," or doesn't have the word "sugar" listed in the ingredients? Well, I am here to tell you that food packaging can be deceiving . There is an extremely long list of other names for sugar . I completed a google search,... the first article alone listed 39 different words for sugar! THIRTY-NINE. It blew my mind ... I know a few of you will question why items such as fruit juice and honey are on this list.. when they are "natural" sugars? Well unfortunately, the body doesn't really care whether sugar is "natural" or not. It all gets used or unused in the same way. It can provide energy to the body when it is required, however, it can also be a leading contributor to weight gain if intake exceeds needs . Don't be fooled my friends, the food industry are very smart in convincing you that products are "healthy!" My advice... EDUCATE yourself!! 01.01.2022 It is no secret that the internet and social media is changing the way we communicate and is an amazing tool to connect, educate and learn, however, there are some downfalls. The internet has become an encyclopaedia for information on EVERYTHING, particularly nutrition! But in the case of nutrition, more information is NOT better, it just confuses us even more . Vegan, paleo, keto, high carb, low fat, raw, vegetarian... it is all just too overwhelming! My simplest advice, to avoid feeling confused, lost and unsure is to remember: food is fuel- so choose the fuel that makes your body perform to it's maximal potential all "diets" can work but not all "diets" are sustainable.
