21.01.2022 Minister for Agriculture Adam Marshall declared war on illegal puppy factories by announcing a newly-formed Puppy Factory Taskforce within the RSPCA. Demand for pets has risen during the COVID-19 period and so too has reports of puppy factories, so it is critical government throws additional resources at this growing and deeply concerning problem. Under current rules, any breeder found to be doing the wrong thing can have their animals seized, fines up to $22,000 and jail t...ime of up to 2 years per offence. RSPCA Inspectors have carried out 22 raids so far this financial year (since 1 July 2020) compared to 51 in total for the last financial year.

13.01.2022 How honoured I was to attend the Towrang Rural Fire Brigade this afternoon to assist in recognising 37 members of the brigade who received their Bushfire Emergency Citation recognition for the 2019/2020 fire season. Congratulations to the members who were recognised today and to their families who supported them as they served their community during one the worst bushfire season this State has endured. Thank you for your service.

10.01.2022 Congratulations to Goulburn District Hockey Association! Goulburn will soon become the home of national and state hockey championship matches and tournaments with local facilities to be upgraded to elite competition standard, thanks to funding from the NSW Government. I am delighted to join Mayor Bob Kirk in announcing $3.8 million from the NSW Government's Growing Local Economies Fund has been awarded to Goulburn Mulwaree Council to towards the upgrade of the Goulburn Regio...nal Hockey Facility. Goulburn has a proud history when it comes to professional and social hockey participation and this funding will secure the future of the sport in the region, allowing players to keep on playing and also encouraging newcomers to join.

10.01.2022 Last Regional Taskforce meeting for the year a great review of what’s been achieved (or still outstanding) through collaboration with our Business, Industry, Councils and Education representatives. This year has been difficult, and ever changing and I would like to thank all participants for their time throughout the year. Your advice and suggestions have been invaluable. A big thank you to Randall Walker for his excellent work. Nathaniel Smith, Peter Sidgreaves, Angus Taylor and I look forward to reconvening in the new year.

03.01.2022 RESTRICTIONS EASED IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS More people will be allowed to gather both at home and in outdoor public spaces, and smaller hospitality venues can increase their capacity under a major easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Rules change from Tuesday, 1 December and from Monday, 14 December.

01.01.2022 Attorney General and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence Mark Speakman has announced reforms for extra protections for domestic violence complainants when giving evidence in court. The Bill amends the Criminal Procedure Act 1986 to allow complainants in domestic violence criminal proceedings to give evidence in closed courts or remotely via audio-visual link. In addition, under the proposed reforms, a new jury direction will state that delayed reporting by a domestic violence complainant should not necessarily be viewed as evidence suggesting the allegation is false. These reforms aim to ease the burden of the court process on victim-survivors so they’re empowered to report abuse and can know they’ll be supported during proceedings.
