24.01.2022 Each week during lockdown I have been pre recording a 40 minute vinyasa yoga style class. These classes are on top of the 1 hour pilates classes, 1 hour yoga classes and 30 minute circuit style pilates classes that I have been pre recording each week. The idea of the shorter classes are to add variety and to motivate and energise when we can't get outside for as long. 18.01.2022 Here is a small section of the exercises that are included in this weeks 30 minute circuit style pilates class. During lockdown I have been adding this short class to energise. The great thing about circuit style classes is that you can get a really good workout at whatever fitness level you are at. The exercises are designed that they work the whole body and cover all the planes of pilates very efficiently. Also because we rest some muscles while we work others there is no n...eed to rest between exercises. I have been picking 9 or 10 exercises each week and we do 30 seconds of each exercise and we do 3 rounds. Even if you have never tried pilates these classes are great because you don't need any equipment and you can work at your own pace. During lockdown I have pre recorded some beginners classes especially for some clients that had just started to do pilates with me before lockdown. I was worried about these clients joining in with my general classes that I have been pre recording and having over zoom. I have four 1 hour beginners classes that I have recorded that I would like to release to those w...ho would like to give pilates a go. I explain a lot of basics in these classes and I talk a lot about how alignment and how to execute the exercises correctly. 16.01.2022 HIGHLIGHTING SAVASANA I am showcasing the most important pose of yoga "Savasana." A lot of my clients will say, "WE ONLY COME FOR SAVASANA"... People like me over the years have resisted doing savasana because people like me have to learn for themselves the importance of savasana. I had to learn that yoga was not all about the challenging bits. I had to learn that my body needed the savasana and the relaxation bits. These parts were what I needed to bring balance into my life. When I say that yoga is for every body, I am really talking about savasana. In English savasana translates to corpse pose. This pose is very simply the most important and the most beneficial pose. It is usually practiced after an active Yoga session, but can also be done after work or at any time of the day. The purpose of this pose is to completely relax your mind and body and to try not to fall asleep. Instruction. Lie flat on your back with your feet apart, you can use a pillow or blanket or bolster under your legs. The main this is that you are comfortable but your spine is long. Arms should be slightly away from your stomach, and let your palms face upward. Close your eyes and focus only on yourself. Keep yourself aware of the surroundings, but try not to let yourself get distracted. With no pressure of physical exertion, the savasana is about restoration and cooling down. Lets go through the Health benefits that Savasana has to offer. This pose has many mental, physical and spiritual advantages. Here are some of them. *Helps problems of insomnia, stress, fatigue, anxiety, anger or any other negative traits that you want to eliminate. Savasana also helps with depression and anxiety. *Breathing stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system Your resting and digestive systems. *Savasana helps to improve your memory and develop concentration skills. *Savasana helps to Restore energy. *Savasana relaxs muscles, and reduces your blood pressure. *Savasana helps to enter into an intense meditative and relaxing state of mind. *Savasana helps to repair tissues, which further helps your body function properly. When you have practiced Savasana for a while you see lots of benefits to your life off the mat. Sometimes the hardest thing is to keep yourself awake. Don't worry if you fall asleep, you must have needed it. I have tried to stay awake in Savasana and fallen asleep and after 10 minutes of savasana sleep I have felt so amazing and so energised. 16.01.2022 I would like to share a post. 4 years ago in the school holidays Patricia brought her 2 gorgeous girls to yoga with her. Now that we are in school holidays I would love to encourage your children to do the pre recordings with you. It is a perfect time while we are spending more time at home to introduce them to yoga or pilates. I have had many children come to the face to face classes with their parents. Sometimes they just do a few minutes and sometimes the whole class. Let... it be a relaxed time where they can join in whenever they want. You may be very surprised. Yoga is so good for their minds and their bodies. Written by Patricia 4 years ago "Today my girls joined me in a session of yoga. I thought they would just sit aside colouring in their books.. but they both came forward and found their own space on the mat. Both giving different poses a go and enjoying the challenges it bought and achieving happy moments,poses with some laughter. Keanna said her most challenging was the doing the down dog and then opening up to 3 legged dog , slipping open to tabletop! Her favourite was half moon, inversions , handstand and bridge. Jayda's most challenging was going from plank to side plank and plank to down dog. Her favourite poses was tree pose and half moon and the 'music' in breathing..love it!!! I love that my girls give things a go. Feeling at peace with my girls beside me. Awesome yoga session"

14.01.2022 GROUP FITNESS ON ZOOM. I LOVE BALANCE. Here we go again. Motivating yourself is hard especially during winter. Add to this, the limited options at the moment. ... GROUP CLASSES will be expanding on zoom from Tuesday 14th July, 2020. I will be offering more options than ever. I would like to keep everyone motivated to keep their health and fitness going. Some of my clients like to have an appointment to keep them motivated and accountable and others like the flexibility of being able to suit themselves when they do the pre recorded classes. I am offering both for the next 6 weeks. The cost will also stay the same. $14 unlimited zoom per week. The payment will be 5 pass for $70 or 10 pass for $140. The passes will be converted to 1 pass per class when we go back to face to face classes. PRE RECORDED CLASSES will still be available every Monday and this time for the whole week. 1 hour yoga class 1 hour pilates class TUESDAY AND THURSDAY will be scheduled zoom classes. 14.01.2022 WHY SHOULD WE PRACTICE YOGA IN WINTER? One of the great reasons to continue yoga in winter is for our joints. Research consistently highlights that symptoms of chronic joint pain are exacerbated in winter. Joint pain increases in the cold weather and unfortunately there are a lot of conditions that are affected. ... These are Crohns disease, ulcerative colitis, osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, to name a few. In general, practising asana (postures) in a Vinyasa (flowing form) style maintains joint mobility and increases circulation while loosening stiffness within the joints. An essential part of easing pain during this time is to ensure that the body stays warm, as heat also helps muscles to relax and a soothing way of decreasing joint pain. 14.01.2022 At I Love Balance I am trying very hard to keep everyone motivated in these very trying times. I was thinking we were getting closer to having some face to face time with some classes outside at the studio. Unfortunately 2 things still need to happen to make this possible. One, the 5km exercise restriction has to be lifted and Two, the numbers of people exercising together has to increase. Sadly I do not think this will happen this Sunday.... In the meantime I am offering altogether 10 classes over zoom. 6 classes with scheduled time slots to enjoy together on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 4 pre recorded classes sent via a link to be enjoyed when it suits you for a one week period. I am wanting some feedback please for moving forward with classes over zoom and also offering the Thursday scheduled classes. My thoughts are: Continuing to offer the 3 scheduled time classes over zoom on a Thursday given that the numbers are fairly minimum or using my time on a Thursday to offer altogether 6 pre recorded classes over the week. These classes would still all be available for a 1 week period. 1 1 hour beginners pilates class 1 1 hour general pilates class 1 1 hour beginners yoga class 1 1 hour general yoga class 1 30 minute circuit style pilates class 1 40 minute vinyasa style yoga class I would really value your feedback. 13.01.2022 At I love balance I have a challenge each month in my pilates classes. This months challenge is "round the worlds" The great thing about challenges is that we usually increase the intensity through the month and we usually see an improvement. I like to have variety in my classes so sometimes we find it hard to see improvements in ourselves because the exercises change or the way we do them change. Sometimes I like to work on endurance, strength or even an aerobic focus with the exercises. Here is an example of the September challenge. For this first week of September we will be taking the sequence only twice and by the end of the month we will be repeating it 6 times.

12.01.2022 Beautiful day at Port Melbourne. I can feel a bit of spring in the air. First time with the feet in the water for a few weeks. Fabulous shout out to Willow Zen eggs at the Farmers Market this morning at Gasworks Park Albert Park. Really yummy eggs, open pasture free range eggs. You can really taste the difference.

12.01.2022 SPRING HAS ARRIVED!! Spring is a fantastic time for new beginnings and new goals. In yoga we call it setting an intention, an affirmation. When I teach yoga I ask my class to think about something we are grateful for, something positive to motivate us to explore being the best that we can be. Yoga can help us to achieve so much more in our lives. A regular practice of yoga and yoga breathing (pranyarma) can change our perspective and bring us into the present moment. Yoga c...an also increase our blood flow and oxygen in our body, increase our circulation, increase our energy levels and decrease feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. Other benefits of yoga are: 1.Yoga Develops Strength 2. Yoga Improves Flexibility 3. Yoga Increases Balance 4. Yoga benefits concentration and focus 5. Yoga gives clarity and calms the mind 6. Yoga benefits in reducing your anxiety I know most of us cannot travel at the moment but we can't stop dreaming and having our goals.

Breathing is so simple and so obvious we often take it for granted, ignoring the power it has to affect body, mind and spirit.With each inhale we bring oxygen into the body and spark the transformation of nutrients into fuel. Each exhale purges the body of carbon dioxide, a toxic waste. Breathing also affects our state of mind. It can make us excited or calm, tense or relaxed. It can make our thinking confused or clear. Pranayama is loosely translated as ...prana or breath control. The ancient yogis developed many breathing techniques to maximize the benefits of prana. Pranayama is used in yoga as a separate practice to help clear and cleanse the body and mind. Pranayama Breathing has many benefits including: 1. Reduced Breathing Rate 2. Pranayama improves blood circulation 3. Pranayama improves the functioning of body organs 4. Pranayama improves mental health. 5. Pranayama improves quality of life in old age. 6. Pranayama helps with breathing to access more of the lung capacity. We always do a small amount of Pranyarma breathing in every yoga class. EVEN WITH 5 MINUTES OF PRANAYAMA BREATHING A DAY YOU WILL FEEL THE BENEFITS OVER TIME.

Circuit training has always been a fantastic tool to achieve a very efficiently workout.... These 2 new classes will be perfect for those working from home and those who are struggling with time to exercise or to have any time for themselves.... There will be a 30 minute circuit style pilates class. You will not need any equipment for this class and it will be for all levels. 06.01.2022 I woke up early this morning to see the full moon. Not early enough though so it seems. Sunrise was 6.45am so I got down to the beach at 6.15am and it was quite light already and windy. I found the moon and it was almost completely covered with light cloud so I was a bit disappointed. Then as I was standing there it came out from behind the cloud like it was just for me and then went back behind the cloud.... So special. Of course photos never do it justice. See more

05.01.2022 I LOVE BALANCE ZOOM CLASSES I have decided to make some small changes to the timetable for scheduled zoom classes from next week. I have decided to bring the times into line on Tuesdays and Thursday to make it less confusing. The changes will only affect the Thursday classes.... I decided that the earlier option would be better as the days will start to get longer and you may be able to enjoy some time after your class to get out, especially after the curfew is lifted. The new timetable is attached. I will still be sending you your pre recorded links each week to enjoy for a whole week. Once I know when we are able to have face to face classes I will probably make some changes. I love balance. Trying to keep us motivated to stay fit and healthy. Wendy. X

04.01.2022 Until the end of August at I LOVE BALANCE we are going to celebrate our hips. I am dedicating the rest of August to our hips. Why? One word is the end of WINTER. Second word SEDENTARY, Third word COLD and Fourth word LOCKDOWN. This combination is not good. This combination equals too much sitting around. The more we sit the stiffer our muscles are around the pelvic/hip area.... Some interesting facts about our hips: *The hip joint is one of the most important joints of the body. * The function of the hip joint is to support the weight of the body in both static (standing) and dynamic (walking or running) positions. *The hip joint is one of our most flexible joints and also allows us the greatest range of motion in the body. The other flexible joint is our shoulder joint. *Healthy hip flexibility and mobility is so important to help prevent lower back pain and injury. *Healthy hip joints are also important for becoming more powerful and to perform athletic movements effectively. *The ligaments and muscles around the hips/pelvis provide stability, strength and motion for the pelvis. *The hip is a ball and socket joint. The ball and socket allows for a lot of range of motion in different planes and directions. During our yoga and pilates we will help to keep this whole area healthy by increasing the blood flow, synovial fluid and circulation. Lets get ourselves ready for SPRING and love our hips. Wendy. 03.01.2022 Benefits for including Pilates and Yoga in your life. Learning to breath correctly. Even though the breathing techniques are different between yoga and Pilates, both will help you to increase your lung capacity and increase the circulation throughout your body. My gorgeous great neice not even realising that she is doing yoga. Yoga is for everyone.

02.01.2022 UNLIMITED ZOOM. Are you interested in continuing with zoom recordings from the start of November. Zoom pre recorded classes will be continuing 1 hour yoga 1 hour pilates... 30 minute circuit pilates 40 minute vinyasa yoga. also 2 of the scheduled classes will continue on Thursdays. 5.00pm yoga and 6.05pm Pilates. As we move forward unlimited zoom classes will be $10 per week. Payable 5 weeks for $50 or 10 weeks for $100. Face to face classes will be a separate pass and places will be limited. Please book your place for face to face classes from Tuesday 10th November.
