24.01.2022 Finally we have a new bridge!!! Pretty safe to say this one won’t be needing replacing in my life time!!

22.01.2022 It’s so rewarding working with like minded people. Lucky enough to be involved with some of the fencing for Holger and his Notley valley farm. https://www.abc.net.au//t/tasmanian-country-hour/12663878

22.01.2022 Our fat cows needed a fresh paddock. Forecast of 6-20mm or rain wasn’t an issue for them grazing on the flats. The fact we got 45mm meant they needed to come across the creek back onto the higher ground. If we hadn’t of replaced this crossing as part of the Tamar action grants this move wouldn’t have happened due to being to risky

22.01.2022 Another beautiful day out on the farm for a healthy soils field day. Thanks to Tamar NRM and MLA for support

21.01.2022 The frogs are loving this spring weather

21.01.2022 The regrowth in this mixed pasture that was sown last March. It’s bean awesome watching the change in the soil structure and the plant growth.

20.01.2022 Moving fat cows.

19.01.2022 It’s an interesting situation. 2Ha of fodder crop that we haven’t been able to feed off this season due to excess feed and moisture. So decided to mulch it down today. This will add to the soil and hopefully the huge amount of clover, oats, rye and vetch should come back through for good summer feed

18.01.2022 Some more tree planting today. It’s biodiversity we are building.

18.01.2022 Another day, another moove. You can almost see the pastures growing. Not eating the pastures down means we have faster recovery.

17.01.2022 A few photos of regrowth on the diverse fodder crop. This is almost 3 weeks post graze and there was a very cold week -4, light snow and 56mm rain. A few things that I’ve learnt, don’t graze as hard as most fodder crops, 4 hours is the difference between good and over grazed. Managed to borrow a rising plate meter 6200 kg/ha Dm, and that’s only above ground.

17.01.2022 Bit of a moove for the cows and tagging of the calves. Busy day.

17.01.2022 This time of year is usually a struggle for feed. Using a combination of highly diverse fodder crops and better management, we are in a surprising situation. I’ve lost the calves!

16.01.2022 Got a few more mouths here on agistment for a while.

16.01.2022 Now where did I park the big shiny red quad bike????????

15.01.2022 It’s an understatement saying it’s a good year!!!

15.01.2022 Today we had the pleasure of telling some young minds what we do and why. These young people are our future and I’m so grateful for their interest.

15.01.2022 The electric fences weren’t working the best. Time to mulch some of the 1.5m high pastures down. There’s a fence in there somewhere!!!!

13.01.2022 Sunny Sunday tree planting session.

12.01.2022 As the diverse fodder crops go to flower the insects are loving it. It’s still so wet in places I can’t get the tractor on to resow. Building in a fail safe in the mix is good insurance. There is cocksfoot, red clover and perennial rye included with 13 annuals so this area will keep coverage through the summer.

12.01.2022 Introducing our two new Landfall bulls. Percy(percybull) a chism blood line and Quamby a yearling Leonardo line

12.01.2022 We have a small herd of meat goats, which we use for weed management on farm. Kidding season has started with a healthy set of girl/boy twins!

10.01.2022 Well we have had 98mm of rain in the last 10days and the pastures are going crazy. Fodder crops are flowering, the insects are loving it and the cows are fat. Trying to get onto weeds when it’s always raining or windy is involving a lot of chipping thistles and capeweed

10.01.2022 Does this colour suit my complexion???

09.01.2022 Using a bale buggy on a clients farm, the reverse camera comes in handy

07.01.2022 We will be doing a limited amount of small square bales this season. $6.60 in the paddock delivery can be arranged at extra minimum 20 bales. Should be ready this coming weekend.

07.01.2022 A productive day today. 16Ha pastures and fodder sprayed with seaweed, cows moved and even managed a bike ride in the sun.

07.01.2022 We grow some good clover on our place.

05.01.2022 Like most things, I don’t always do things the normal way!! Made my potatoes mounds with the excavator, and using dripper line for watering. This area had a diverse cover crop growing on in from March and was mulched in.

05.01.2022 The past week has seen an up date of water infrastructure and dividing fence for better grazing management. The old trough(44gall drum cut in half) had seen better days, leaking float valve, rusty sharp edges etc. Paddock now split more on soil type and able to keep animals from the wetter side during winter.

03.01.2022 Just a little before and after. Down the 8/3/20 This has had two very intensive strip grazing over the last 3 months and the feed that keeps coming back is amazing. That’s a fully grown 650kg cow in there
