11.01.2022 #MeetTheTeam Rita McKenzie started with us in January 2019 as the Aboriginal Cultural Liaison Coordinator. Before commencing her role in 2019, Rita was contracted by us to present Aboriginal Cultural Awareness training to GPs and general practices and has since continued to provide accredited training to GPs in our region. Rita’s first nation is Gamilaroi and she was born in Armidale, NSW, she’s lived in Western Sydney with her family since 1969. Outside of WentWest, she contributes by presenting, networking and building partnerships with the community and Aboriginal services.

The names are the following: Bawamarra meaning to 'communicate', Nandhu means to 'meet', Guwaa-li means to 'speak', Maarung means 'circle', Birrong means 'stars' and Walu means 'where are you going?'
