20.01.2022 CANCELLATION NOTICE OF 2020 SHOW The Organising Committee of the Wentworth Show is sad to announce that the 2020 Show which was due to be held on the 29th & 30th August has been cancelled. The restrictions in place for public gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty of any timeline around lifting the restrictions makes it unworkable for the committee and volunteers to do the organisation required over the next few months. Also, the many exhibitors and compe...titors spend months preparing for the show and they need more certainty than we can offer them under the current circumstances. So, with all this in mind it was important to make this decision now. In the Society’s 135-year history the show has only been cancelled during WW1, WW2 and the 1956 Murray Darling flood, so now we have to add the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. Over the coming days and weeks, the Show Society will be in contact with all stakeholders to finalise cancellation details. The decision has not been taken lightly, but has been made in the interest of public health and safety and will be a disappointment for all involved. We thank the community for their support over the years and we look forward to presenting a spectacular 2021 Show. Wentworth Show Society Inc.

05.01.2022 Please read below for the statement regarding the 2021 Armidale Show from the President Ms Maddie Broomfield: To Whom It May Concern, Last night, the Armidale &... New England Show Society met via Zoom for the August Meeting. The primary discussion was on the 2021 Show and the likelihood of this event taking place. There were several factors that the Committee discussed at length, the most noteworthy being as follows: - the impact that restrictions will have on our ability to host crowds, competitors and spectators; - the economic impact of COVID-19 and the lockdown, as well as the lingering impacts of the fires and drought on our community, our businesses and our sponsors, and - the potential risk to our community of COVID spreading as a result of our event. From a practical standpoint, the likelihood of a vaccine becoming available is extremely low, with experts indicating that it won’t be readily available until after March next year. As with all things, we must compare our expenditure vs our income, to allow our event, which has existed for 145 years to continue for another 145. With this in mind, and having weighed up all the factors, the Armidale & New England Show Society voted unanimously to not hold a traditional Agricultural Show for 2021. The Committee, however, will proceed with an Online Show and will attempt to incorporate as many of the traditional elements of our Ag Show into this as possible. The details are still being finalised, and further discussions will be occurring between the Executive, the Committee and all major stakeholders over the next few months. Furthermore, new activities and events are being planned, to make 2021 unique but amazing. The decision was made last night, to allow the Committee to put a significant amount of effort into creating and developing the Online event without having to leave members, third parties and the community in limbo for the rest of the year. Should the situation improve, and restrictions are eased, our plans will adjust to deal with this as well. While it was not an easy decision to make, the Committee came away from the Meeting last night enthused and hopeful at what we may be able to achieve for 2021. At the same time, we are aware that this is a significant announcement, and may result in some difficult discussions and a mix of emotions. The Armidale Show is, has, and always will be, an event for the community and together we now face 2021. With deepest regards, Maddie Broomfield Armidale & New England Show Society President
