23.01.2022 Mr Evanss Stage 3 Maths Group have been learning about fractals. From Mr Evans: We learned about Sierpinskis triangle which was named after Polish mathematician Waclaw Sierpinski. Its a fractal set based on an equilateral triangle, made by dividing the triangle into four smaller triangles, removing the central triangle then repeating this for the other triangles. If you repeat this forever you get a fractal.... In these photos we have made 81 Sierpinski triangles and combined them to make one large one. We have also investigated the patterns within these triangles! See more

19.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. Last week we celebrated NAIDOC Week 2020. Every class was lucky enough to work with Merindah Funnell, a proud Wiradjuri artist and a freelance illustrator, to plan our mural. Each student was given the opportunity to learn about connections to country and add their connection to Wentworth Falls PS to the planning for the mural. When finished, the mural will have a little piece of all of the ideas generated by our students. ... All classes celebrated NAIDOC week by exploring, celebrating and appreciating the wealth and breadth of knowledges and languages held by indigenous peoples on this continent. Classes explored languages, art, stories, weather, seasons and many more topics. More photos to come.

Wentworth Falls Public School students were also lucky enough to have a visit from a local Aboriginal illustrator, Charmaine Ledden-Lewis. Charmine visited the library, where students were able to meet and talk with her about her latest work, illustrating the beautiful story - Found.

13.01.2022 Wonderful work @ Wenty: 5/6M have been working hard to plan, draft, edit and publish their own historical fiction picture books based on their learning about the Australian Gold Fields. The students used story mountain to scaffold their narrative writing and thought carefully about illustrations that were visually appealing and enhanced the text. A great effort, 5/6M! #LoveWhereYouLearn

02.01.2022 Warragamba Dam education officer, Rusty, Rosie and Tracey visited Stage 1 for a two day incursion to further investigate the water cycle and develop an appreciation for this precious resource. It was such a treat and everyone enjoyed Rusty’s lessons. These included a variety of hands-on activities as well as observing a little yabby collected from our local creek (he went home after his visit). The students had an opportunity to ‘sprinkle’ rain across the landscape models they built to observe the catchment of water, they studied water bugs (in resin) with magnifying glasses and were encouraged to extend their knowledge through these experiences. Two fabulous days with thanks to Sydney Water for the free school visit.
