Here’s some Pros and Cons to consider. Pros If you restrict your listing and have no pets allowed you are effectively removing a large part of the potential tenant pool looking for a property to rent. In an already difficult market this can result in your property being vacant for long periods of t...ime. As a landlord, this is your opportunity to have more tenants interested in your property. Agents will place a Pet Bond in your lease to protect any damage that may be caused by pets. You can also stipulate that the property must be fumigated for fleas and deodorised at the completion of the lease. Tenants with pets often stay longer and renew their lease. As not all Landlords allow pets many tenants extend their leases when they find an accommodating landlord. Moving regularly and having to adjust to new surroundings is difficult for many pets and owners recognise this. Long term rentals are therefore more appealing to them.
