25.01.2022 CFA has received a number of calls from community members regarding bonfires to mark the Spark in the Dark event this evening. We appreciate those who are thanking our frontline workers, but urge you to keep fire safety front of mind. As todays conditions are windy in some areas we are urging those who wish to participate to not do so by lighting bonfires or using fire pits.... If you are choosing to light a candle, please ensure it is monitored by an adult and extinguished properly. You might like to mark the event by using a torch or outside light. Thank you and stay safe.
24.01.2022 From all of us here at the Werribee Fire Brigade we'd like to wish the RCH a happy 150th Birthday today! An amazing milestone for an institution that is so close to the Brigade's heart
22.01.2022 New Year’s Eve might look a bit different this year, but we urge everyone to farewell 2020 in the safest possible way. Fireworks are dangerous and can not only start fires but also put those around them at risk of serious injuries, burns or even death. Stay safe and do the right thing to look after yourselves, your family, friends and community. ... https://news.cfa.vic.gov.au/-/don-t-ruin-the-party-with-ill

18.01.2022 It's a great time to go camping, but don't let your campfire become a bushfire. Remember these tips when setting up: Keep a clear area of 3 metres around the fire Ensure the fire is no bigger than 1sq metre Someone must be at the fire at all times and have the means to extinguish it... The fire must be fully extinguished when the last person leaves See more
18.01.2022 Just before 2230hrs last night, Firefighters and Road Crash Rescue Operators from Werribee Fire Brigade were responded to a multi vehicle accident on Greaves St North in Werribee. The two vehicles had collided at the intersection of Greaves St Nth and Werribee St Nth causing serious impact to the drivers door of a Hyundai Getz, trapping the driver. Werribees rescue team cut the male occupant free who was then airlifted by helicopter to hospital with serious injuries. The ot...her driver involved was not trapped but was also taken to hospital via road ambulance with upper body injuries. Wyndham Vale Fire Brigade, Police and Ambulance were also in attendance. Whilst there has been some commentary on social media as to these vehicles being on the road at this time of night. There are many who are still travelling by vehicle for many valid purposes, such as: employment and care giving. We ask that the public refrain from commenting on such issue.
18.01.2022 In May this year, Nary and her family were eating breakfast when they heard a faint beeping noise. Within a matter of minutes, the entire top storey of their house was alight, from a fire likely started by a faulty electrical blanket. Narys whole family were able to safely escape with just the clothes on their back, and credit their safe evacuation to having a working smoke alarm. Install interconnected smoke alarms in all bedrooms and living areas, and ensure you test batteries monthly. Only working smoke alarms save lives.

16.01.2022 Did you know that only 1 in 10 Victorian households have smoke alarms in recommended locations? In the last 10 years, 22 people across regional Victoria have died due to fires in their bedrooms. Install interconnected smoke alarms in every bedroom and living area in your home. It could save your life.
16.01.2022 Silence is the last thing you want to hear in the event of a fire. Install smoke alarms in all bedrooms, living area and hallways and ensure they are interconnected so all alarms will sound regardless of where a fire starts.
15.01.2022 Beyond the numbers, these individual stories tell the personal impact coronavirus (COVID-19) is having on Victorians and their families. This campaign shares the effect the virus is having on individuals, and through telling individual stories, reminds us all we have a part to play in helping slow the spread of coronavirus. Associate Professor Craig French, head of ICU at Western Health, sees first-hand the terrible impact coronavirus has on patients every day. He witnesses the painful separation patients have from their families who are unable to be with them, including in their final moments.

09.01.2022 Today, the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC released its seasonal outlook for December to February. Average to above average rainfall during spring, combined with an outlook of above average rainfall for much of Victoria, indicates we will experience a less severe bushfire season this summer but an increased risk of grass fire. Here’s what Victoria’s fire agencies say this means for fire risk.

07.01.2022 Its important to check the weather before burning off, not just the day of your burn but the days thereafter and to make sure your burn is properly extinguished. Yesterdays fire at Main Ridge is one of several that are crews have recently attended after windy conditions caused burn-offs to flare up several days and even weeks after the original burn-off. Make sure you always register your burn-off with ESTA, on 1800 668 511 ... Let your neighbours know you are burning off Ensure it is always supervised by an adult Ben Wain - Main Ridge Fire 7 September
06.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season.
06.01.2022 Please be aware there is currently a planned burn taking place at the Werribee Zoo which is currently putting up a large amount of smoke in the nearby area

05.01.2022 Quick response to gas bottle fire Just before 7pm last night, Werribee Fire Brigade responded to a reported gas bottle on fire. 10 Firefighters responded 3 Appliances from Werribee who were supported by FRV Firefighters from Station 57 (Tarneit) and Station 58 (Point Cook). On arrival a 9kg BBQ gas bottle was alight inside a garage, 5 occupants had evacuated to the front lawn. Firefighters from Werribee quickly extinguished the flames, shut off the gas and removed the gas bot...tle from the shed within minutes of arrival. On further inspection of the gas bottle and the heater it was connected to, the crew found that the regulator was not properly secured which lead to gas leaking and causing the fire. It is a timely reminder to ensure all fittings and connections are checked before using gas bottles, this can be done by completing a thorough visual and physical inspection of all components of your gas bottle including the heater or BBQ they may be connected to. It is important not to use any damaged connections and replace them before use. Thankfully there were no injuries and little damage from this incident.
