12.01.2022 It is with immense disappointment but also understanding that we are announcing as per HVs directions that there will be no winter hockey season for 2020. Please see below a message from Lyn Tout: First of all I would like to thank each and every member who has supported the Club during the very different and challenging times since March. I have been so proud of all our members who have accepted the challenges and trained hard in recent weeks. I assure you, both myself, and ...the Board, appreciate your efforts. We are just as disappointed as each and everyone of you that we are once again locked down. Please stay safe and abide by the restrictions and hopefully we can have a COVID free or at least COVID controlled future. Hockey Victoria have announced that it is not viable for any form of winter competition, this is no surprise to any of us I am sure. HV will, over the next couple of weeks, work on some modelling for an 8 week summer competition. This will be a competitive comp so stay tuned for further info. Once more information is known we will circulate it to members and ask for an EOI in this competition. The WHC Board will hold an online meeting early next week to discuss the Clubs financial viability and also develop a plan to refund and/or credit paid membership fees. Once this is formulated we will circulate it to all members who can then make their own decision as to how they wish to proceed. Some of you ordered uniform/Club apparel earlier this year. While I understand that there is no competition to wear it this winter, the Club will be in a better financial position if we do not have to carry over the cost into next season. Therefore if you havent paid for yours and would like to receive it please pay any balance and contact Holly [email protected] to organise a pick up time. Finally I am sure you join me in thanking the Board. who have spent many hours working with the Wyndham Council and Hockey Victoria, within the guidelines and restrictions of the Victorian Government to ensure that Werribe Hockey Club was able to have at least some time on the pitch in as safe an environment as possible. I also wish to thank the committee members who have also continued to work hard ensuring training and other activities happened. Please stay in touch through whatever means you do we will endeavour to provide as much timely information and perhaps some fun stuff too via our social media platforms. All memos and specific info will be circulated via email, the website and social media. Looking forward to seeing you all on the pitch sometime in 2020! Stay safe if you need to reach out do so. See some of Wyndham Councils support and other key support numbers via link below. #werribeehc #gotigers https://www.werribeehc.com.au//no-winter-competition-for-2

01.01.2022 From Hockey Victoria: Today the Premier announced residents of metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell shire will return to stage 3 lockdown from midnight Wednesday for six weeks. This will clearly have a direct impact on our ability to run the Hockey Victoria 2020 Winter Season as planned. Effective immediately Hockey Victoria will suspend all HV hockey activities and encourage clubs in metropolitan Melbourne to suspend all training activities.... We have a forum scheduled Thursday night (please note the change from Wednesday to Thursday) with our club and associations where we will work through the issues presented and listen to our affiliates. This is going to be a tough period for many families and livelihoods but as a hockey community, we will pull through. A special thanks goes out to the tireless work of our community volunteers and we thank all the players who have been training hard to get the season going again. Unfortunately, this isnt the news any of us wanted to hear but its a reality. Further updates will be provided in the coming days and weeks. Stay safe.
