20.01.2022 The Royal Exhibition Building is a #UNESCO World Heritage-listed site and the oldest surviving example from the Great Exhibition era that still operates as an e...xhibition hall today. When it was built, the Great Hall was the largest building in Australia and the highest building in Melbourne. There was also a viewing platform around the dome that allowed visitors to survey the progress of the booming city - soon you'll have a chance to explore the dome yourself.

We will soon turn our attention towards installing the underpass retaining walls and ramp entrances on both sides of the rail line. During this time there will be pedestrian detours in place on Cherry Street. 16.01.2022 Due to the size of the Metropolitan Sewerage Farm, treating Melbournes sewage from the 1890s and into the 1900s wouldnt have been possible without the workers... and their families living on site. The sewerage farm began with around 8000 hectares and grew to almost 11,000 hectares. The community on site grew to over 500 in the 1950s. #MetropolitanSewerageFarm #TheFarm #WesternTreatmentPlant #Melbourne #Heritage

13.01.2022 Happy National Wattle Day! Originating in 1910, National Wattle Day now marks the first day of Spring and an opportunity for us to celebrate everything this gol...den spray of flowers represents for Australia. From sprigs of wattle being sold during the First World War to raise money for the troops, to inspiring the green and gold colour of many sporting uniforms, to becoming officially gazetted as Australias national floral emblem in 1988 (Acacia pycnantha), the Wattle has a place in many Australian hearts. The 2020 Golden Wattle Award goes to Australias front-line workers during our fight against COVID-19. Wed love to see photos of the wattle growing in your garden or on your daily walk to celebrate the hard work of front-line staff.

07.01.2022 Thanks to the enormous efforts of Victorians in following the rules and driving down case numbers, weve started taking the first of our cautious and careful st...eps towards a COVID Normal. The numbers are falling but we need to keep it that way ensuring we can continue to open up safely and sustainably based on the data, the science and expert public health advice. From 11.59pm last night, Melbourne moved from Stage Four to the First Step of the roadmap for reopening, with modest changes including more social interaction and more time outside. Social bubbles begin today, allowing those living alone or single parents to have one other person in their home. Exercise is extended to two hours split over a maximum of two sessions, and you will be able to use that time outside for social interaction with one other person or the members of your household. Playgrounds and outdoor fitness equipment reopen, libraries will be able to open for contactless click and collect and the curfew will begin at 9pm as Melbourne moves into warmer months. Also from today, Victorias State of Emergency and State of Disaster declarations have been renewed for another four weeks, ending at 11.59pm on 11 October 2020. While the vast majority of Victorians are doing the right thing and following the directions, these measures give the Chief Health Officer and Victoria Police the powers they need to continue to respond rapidly to the pandemic in line with the latest data and public health advice. This includes ensuring Victoria Police has the ability to enforce the directions that are keeping us safe and slowing the spread of the virus. Without these efforts, we risk losing all of Victorians hard-won gains.
