15.01.2022 Keeping our libraries, staff, and community safe With the libraries at Werris Creek and Quirindi reopening face-to-face operations, under strict social distanc...ing and hygiene protocols, one of the major tasks being undertaken by librarians is safely returning the books and DVDs borrowed under the click-and-collect system used during the shutdown into circulation. Over a 6 week period from mid-April 1,336 items were borrowed and now as they are returned the are put into quarantine for 72 hours after which they are disinfected before going back on the shelves, said LPSC Mayor, Councillor Andrew Hope. (Pictured - At Quirindi library, Marg Muirson disinfects book before they go back into circulation) The health, safety and well being of our library staff and visitors to the library is Councils number one priority and the reopening has taken place following the best advice provided by NSW Health. Social distancing means that only 4 visitors at a time can be in Quirindi library with 8 visitors the maximum number in Werris Creek. Bookings are essential to use the public computers and visitors are limited to 30 minutes per day. Call Werris Creek 6768 7340 or Quirindi 6746 2350 to make an appointment. 06.01.2022 Welcome to Local Government Week 2020 This years Local Government Week theme is Councils Do, which reflects the critical role local government plays in providi...ng infrastructure, services and support and bringing communities together. Never has that role been as important as it is now, in the wake of drought, dust storms, fires, smoke, floods and a pandemic that has rewritten the way we go about our daily business. The annual Local Government Week event has traditionally been an opportunity for Liverpool Plains Shire Council to showcase some of the great work it undertakes to support and serve the local community. Like so many other things in the current pandemic environment, Local Government Week 2020 is forced to take a very different format to previous years. This year, LPSC is featuring several short video clips on its Facebook page that highlight the variety of services Council provides. They focus on childcare, parks, gardens and recreation grounds and local libraries. Were also utilising the event to launch the Shires 2020 Garden Competition and the Plains Postcard Competition.
