25.01.2022 This is really disappointing :( Our neighbouring brigade, Little Yarra, has had one of the fire fighting water tanks in their area vandalised as we head into Summer. These are placed to provide emergency access to water, to help support our communities, to help us protect life and property.
23.01.2022 Fire risk is greatest at night when you are asleep. When we sleep we can lose out sense of smell. Without a working smoke alarm you may not wake up or wake up too late to safely escape. https://youtu.be/RD4fVhi_Xgk
22.01.2022 We wear masks in dangerous environments. Now it is your turn! We all need to step up and not only protect ourselves, we need to protect everyone during these trying times. Sanitize your hands, wear a mask and socially distance yourselves to assist in slowing the spread of Covid-19. 21.01.2022 Today, we remember all those who have given their lives to serve and protect our community and give thanks to all Victoria Police members who continue to serve. The community is with you #BlueRibbonDay2020 #WeRemember
21.01.2022 Hello 2021 prep parents! We know that there has been no school tours this year which has made it difficult to choose the right school for your child. We would ...like to invite your child for a trial morning with us to get a feel for our school. We will run these sessions on the dates below, please call our office to book your child in to have a look around and do some fun activities. 2021 preps have no school fees for their first year with us, each child will also receive a free school bag and school hat. Please contact our principal Jeff DeVilla on 03 5966 6202 to organise alternate dates if these dates do not work for you.
21.01.2022 Hi Everyone, please see the advice below from Yarra Valley Water. While Wesburn and Millgrove are unaffected by this advice, you may wish to share it with your friends and family down the line in areas that have been impacted.
21.01.2022 You may have noticed over the last few weeks the members of Wesburn Millgrove fire brigade out training. As things are slowly returning to normal, we're returning to training. While there are some restrictions on what we can do, it great to be back maintaining and enhancing our skills.
19.01.2022 Call to Action Help Tony Step up to fight depression, PTSI and suicide and raise $1000 by October 10 Tony Lewis is a Volunteer Fire Fighter with Wesburn Millgrove and has been in the CFA for 17 years. Since 2015, Tony has participated in the Melbourne Firefighters Stair Climb and raised nearly $3500... This has all gone to help improve support services, fund research, remove stigmas and raise awareness of Mental health issues like depression, Post Traumatic Stress Injury and Suicide, especially for those within the Emergency Services and Defence communities. In years past, Tony has joined with other volunteer firefighters to raise funds and raise awareness of these Mental health issues. With COVID-19 impacting every aspect of life as we know it, this years Stair Climb has gone virtual, and Tony needs your help to achieve his goal of $1000. Starting on September 10, RUOK Day, Tony aims to take 100,000 steps by October 10. You can help by clicking on the link below and support Tony by donating to this great cause. https://www.firefighterclimb.org.au/climber/tonylewis/
15.01.2022 On Sunday, the brigade was happy to welcome Tyler, a local year 9 student, who was working on a photography project for school. Tyler contacted the brigade earlier and, with the understanding of our requirements around COVID-19, came down to take some photos. Tyler has shared his fantastic photos with us and we've posted them here for all to enjoy!
15.01.2022 Update on yesterday's Hay Shed fire in Don Valley: ^ About 350 round bales, shed and other items were lost in the fire - however the adjoining shed and contents... were saved ^ 13 different appliances attended from 8 different brigades ^ About 40 lengths of hose was used and picked up (photo attached). Each length is 30 meters, so about 1.2 km of hose! ^ the smoke was choking until late in the night ^ it was 2.8 degrees at 7 pm and less then 0.3 when the last truck left at 1 am ^ 17 pizzas, 5 garlic breads, lots of chocolate, lollies were eaten by hardworking crews along with several slabs of water and tea and coffee ^ P2 masks were worn by firefighters in addition to BA (breathing apparatus) ^ Bayswater BA filled 32 BA cylinders ^ Yellingo Rehab provided health checks to every member on scene ^ We organised re-fuelling of vehicles on scene ^ All brigades arranged change over crews during the night with over 74 people attending ^ We used a couple of excavators and a tractor to help pull the bales out. The tractor got a flat tire so it retired early along with an excavator that blew a hydraulic hose. ^ Once all appliances returned to their station they re-stowed all the gear on their appliances to ensure that they were ready to respond to an emergency if required. ^ Today dirty PPC was washed or sent away for specialist cleaning. Hillcrest members re-attended this morning and found a couple of hotspots which they extinguished. Other members spent the morning washing and cleaning many lengths of hose (picture below) - we think it looks pretty neat! Tomorrow more hose will be put up the tower to dry, be re-rolled and returned to their home brigade. A big thank you to all brigades who attended and supported at this incident. We also want to say thank you to those brigade members who provided support behind the scenes. Awesome job by everyone.
15.01.2022 Today marks a historic moment for the fire services in Victoria with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade and the career firefighters from the CFA coming together to form Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV). The CFA is now a fully volunteer fire fighting service. There has been much media coverage on the fire services reform, but rest assured that Wesburn Millgrove Fire Brigade and all the volunteers that make up our membership (Firefighters, administration, community engagement and more!!) will continue to proudly support and protect our community as we have done for more than 70 years.
15.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn; At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them.
14.01.2022 If you see our vehicles parked in front of the station on a Sunday morning, give us a wave! We're undertaking necessary vehicle checks and maintenance. This will help ensure that Wesburn/Millgrove Fire Brigade remain ready to respond 24/7. Stay safe, everyone.

12.01.2022 As we head towards the fire season, our crews are undertaking training to enable them to remain safe on the fireground. Tonight's exercise was a Burn-over, or Entrapment, drill. This drill goes through the steps required if the truck is overrun by fire, using all the equipment on the truck that will keep the crew safe.
11.01.2022 Wesburn / Millgrove CFA attended this structure fire in Warburton on Tuesday morning. It was a very challenging situation and sadly, the historic house was lost. All of the Emergency services on scene including the CFA members, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria did a fantastic job during a difficult Fire fight. Thankyou to all that attended for your efforts. We work as one!

08.01.2022 Here are a few words from our Wesburn / Millgrove CFA Member, Tony regarding his participation in the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb since the year after its inception in 2014. I set myself a goal of 57 minutes to complete the Millgrove to Warburton loop a few weeks ago for the Virtual Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb and today all of the planets aligned and i achieved it. I have participated each year in the MFSC, from its second year, to assist in raising funds for the ...many great services that are available to each and every one of us in our time of need. The beauty of this fund raising event is that we get to train and compete with many other like minded Emergency Services personnel who Step Up to raise funds and then slog it out on the day, knowing that we are indirectly assisting those in need. This year's Virtual Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb has been a little different. Because of Covid 19, the Organisers of the MFSC arranged a virtual event. While following each Districts Covid Safe regulations, this year's participants were challenged to achieve a combined effort of 1,000,000 steps. Well, we all blew that out of the water. The last combined step count as of 9th October was 4,117,093 steps and $193,879 raised for Mental Health. The accumulated total raised over the life of the MFSC is just over $2,500,000, which is a fantastic effort. This evening was my last run for this year's event and i would like to thank everyone for their kind words and generosity. Because of your support i have completed 231856 steps or 176 kilometres run. That is basically the distance by road from Millgrove to Mansfield and you have helped me to raise $1880 to date. You are all very kind and generous people and i can't thank you enough for your support. . Given that there is still one day remaining before this year's Virtual Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb comes to a close, i am still asking for your support to help get me over the $2000 line. Every cent raised this year goes to Lifeline, Black Dog Institute and 000 Foundation. To show your support please donate via my MFSC profile page in the link below. https://www.firefighterclimb.org.au/climber/tonylewis/
