You may just save a life With teens - be curious about their wellbeing. Dont judge or assume you know what theyre experiencing. Notice. VALIDATE their experience and allow them to drain off their distress BEFORE you offer a solution.

Conversing with your kids and opening up dialogue with them about their online use, what they do online and who with can prevent this. Be curious when you ask questions, rather than interrogative. Dont scare kids by telling them horror stories but be realistic about the dangers. Bottom line - talk and monitor!!!!

16.01.2022 Tunnel vision can create major issues for kids such as relational conflict, suicidal thinking and an inability to problem solve. Some kids will see the worst case scenario everywhere and believe there is not other way to view it. Until you come in and show them there is another side to the coin

12.01.2022 There is not a one size fits all list of warning signs. You must know what his normal and not so normal for YOUR child; know what ticks them off and what triggers them; pay close attention to them and really see them: what has changed? Could they cope before but cant now? Are their moods lower than before? Are they more avoidant than ever? Are they secretive suddenly? Really see and notice your child and you will know their warning signs: the signs that they arent ok. And help them ASAP if theyre not.

08.01.2022 It might seem controversial to some parents, but discipline isnt always the most effective strategy. We acknowledge times when this is needed and useful, but when its not, and it is delivered out of parental frustration or anger, discipline can do more damage. So try instead to nurture your childs values, encouraging steps towards good choices; teach them the skills they need to do the good things and be the best person they can be. There is nothing worse than a parent who disciplines a child when the child doesnt have the skill set to do what is expected from the parent! Mistakes are incredible opportunities to grow and learn
