14.01.2022 The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is now recruiting Census Engagement Managers for the 2021 Census. The Census, held on 10 August 2021, is a snapshot of who we are and tells the story of how we are changing. It is one of the largest and most important statistical collections undertaken by the ABS. Census data is used to assist in making decisions including transport, schools, healthcare, housing, infrastructure and business. It also helps plan support and servic...es for individuals, families and communities. The data helps us meet the needs of our diverse population groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and vulnerable populations including people experiencing homelessness. For Example: Census data helps the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health plan medical clinics for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Census data is also used to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can access affordable and culturally appropriate community housing. Census data is a primary source for information on homelessness. Combined with local knowledge, it informs initiatives for housing solutions which provide safe, long-term accommodation for rough sleepers. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with strong engagement and communication skills and who love interacting with their mob are encouraged to apply. This is an opportunity to work with their networks and bring their community along on the journey. For more information follow the links below

10.01.2022 Northern Territory Police are currently recruiting local Indigenous people to become Aboriginal Community Police Officers (ACPO). ACPO’s are uniformed sworn police officers who provide communication and liaison with local Indigenous communities. They enforce the laws of the Northern Territory and protect and serve our community. ACPOs perform a vital role within our police force as they are both role models to our community and also, advocates for cross ...cultural-awareness across the agency. As an ACPO, there are many opportunities for future development including study, qualifications, service in remote localities and community engagement. If you know someone who would be a great role model to the community and wants to become an ACPO, please encourage them to apply. This is their opportunity to make a difference and to improve community knowledge about policing service and law and order issues in the Northern Territory.
