17.01.2022 Please be advised of severe weather warning issued by BOM and shared by DFES. DAMAGING WINDS averaging 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of up to 90 km/h are possible about the hills and foothills in the Lower West and northern parts of the South West districts. This could cause DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY from midnight Wednesday and during the early hours of Thursday morning.... For more information please visit BOM or Emergency WA websites.

17.01.2022 Brad Bowden wanted us to post this (and we wholeheartedly agree so here it is): So there's been a lot of people wanting to donate or reward Volunteer Fire Fight...ers. This is awesome, and there are so many other ways to reward these wonderful people and brigades too: 1) Contact your local bushfire brigade Captain in the bushfire OFF SEASON (in Autumn or Winter), to discuss options for burning off sections of your property utilising brigade personnel - and offer to pay for the privilege - this will reduce the fuel on your property and provide pre-season training opportunities for brigade members 2) Volunteer - you don’t have to fight a fire - maybe offer to clean the equipment, PPE, restock truck cabinetry etc post turn-out. There are also other directly fire related jobs like refilling water bombers at the airstrip, driving the diesel refuelling truck, bringing meals out, admin/record keeping, and transporting fire crew members around - these are really useful, as it frees up a firefighter for frontline duty. Preferably, join up in Winter, as you will have time to get familiar with the equipment and amazing people, and get some training in. 3) Offer to assist in maintaining equipment via readiness inspections of the fire equipment and resources throughout the year. 4) Offer to generally help around the brigade premises for cleaning, busy bees, etc. There are so many ways to help the Firies, its just a matter of contacting your brigade captain or FCO and having a chat!! If you couldn’t make it down last time, don’t fear, we have another opportunity for you to come on down, meet the team , meet some of your neighbours and gather some helpful information on fire safety and your responsibilities. If you have any questions about volunteering, this would be the perfect opportunity to speak with one of the team. Come down SUNDAY 11 October, 11-1, join us for a sausage sizzle and check out the new fire station.

15.01.2022 Please be extra fire safe during lockdown. Whilst brigades will respond in the event of an emergency, (with extra guidelines to follow of course) we would rather not put our volunteers at risk uneccessarily. The warm weather and wind we are experiencing could create dangerous fire conditions, so please take extra care around your home and property and avoid activities that could pose a fire risk. Thank you.
