23.01.2022 Every week on our Music Club John chooses a piece of music and we sing along as he plays while we're muted. Here's this week's choice.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcaS_zepun0

21.01.2022 David is of the opinion that this is one of Gershwin's best pieces and thinks that Lola Astimova on the piano is brilliant.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fpsku1TwQ7E

04.01.2022 Kim says: This week’s music for you is quite an unusual onealthough quite apt. It is the soundtrack to the movie Koyaanisqatsi.which means life out of balance in Hopi language. It is probably the first example of the slow movement in cinema. It has no dialogue. The film goes for about an hour and a half. It was made in the 80s and is part of a TrilogyKoyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi (Life in Transformation) and Naqoyqatsi( Life As War). I was lucky enough to be at the world... premiere of Naqoyqatsi. The music is composed by Philip Glass - an American minimalist composer. I find the films thought provokingthere are a couple of sections where people on escalators have been sped up and it all looks so frantic, scenes of traffic in an overpass maze, slow motion of faces at night in Las Vegas, clouds, monster tractors. Powaqqatsi is more to do with tribal/indigenous/third world communities and the last one is about war. I have included 2 sections from the film Koyaanisqatsi.the opening and then the 6th section. https://www.youtube.com/watch https://www.youtube.com/watch I am a big fan of minimalism, especially Philip Glass and Steve Reich. In its simplicity it becomes quite complex.

01.01.2022 This magnificent piece, chosen by Jan, has been part of the Chorale's repertoire for some years. https://youtu.be/InMhSNBlIg8
