20.01.2022 Today WARCI attended an education day for the students of Murdoch Association for Companion Exotics (MACE) with Dr Chris from Little Pet Vet as the lecturer. Every year we take some bunnies for the students to handle, ask questions and learn. As always, thank you to everyone involved it’s always a day we look forward to!
19.01.2022 Some of the wonderful pet rabbits that attended our vaccination day with Dr Rodney volunteering his time from Morley Vetcentre and the Murdoch vet students getting hands on handling experience. Always a great day! Our next vaccination day is due in November.

17.01.2022 With the WA weather heating up and a sudden change in temp coming this Thursday and Friday, it’s an important time to remind you about heat stress in rabbits. Heat stress can and will kill. There is no excuse to allow your rabbits to suffer heat stress in this day and age. If you feel hot, your rabbits are to. Remember, they are wearing a fur coat and can’t get away from the heat if you don’t allow them to. ... Don’t let your rabbit become a statistic this summer. Follow our tips below.
16.01.2022 The chewed cable has been fixed, the culprit locked up and the new WARCI website is live! You can find membership forms, breed profiles, photos, show day info and more! Have a look, head to www.warci.com.au

05.01.2022 Let’s have a chat about the worlds longest hair breed, the English Angora. It’s become apparent that English Angoras are about to make a comeback to the pet market here in Perth due to back yard breeders. What does this mean? It means that whilst everyone loves a fluffy rabbit, they don’t realise just how much work they are to keep in coat, grooming is a MUST and isn’t just a quick brush over, it’s a tedious process to groom from the base of the hair shaft to the... tip, on the entire rabbit including chin, cheeks, forehead, ears, back of the neck, body, belly, arm pits, legs and even feet. If you are not grooming correctly, it puts the rabbit into pain with the coat pulling their very fragile skin causing tears, heat spots, abscesses, maggot infestations and in a lot of cases the wool wrapping around the rabbits legs causing deformities. Why are we telling you this? To help you take a long hard think before buying an English Angora from a non club member. Because once that rabbit is in your hands, it is your job to make sure it’s needs are met and stop the cycle of byb English Angoras. It’s also because we want to remind you, if you get into a situation with your long haired rabbit and want to ask for help, we want you to ask us. WARCI has a judgement free zone when it comes to Angoras, if you are honest enough to ask for help with the coat of your angora, we will do our best to help you, without judgement. Generally people bring their angoras to shows and we will try and help you there. WARCI is home to the only club member breeding English Angoras and they very very rarely go to homes as pets. WARCI is also home to excellent groomers who have been attending to long haired rabbits for over 20 years. WARCI is fortunate to know a great groomer called Melissa who has bred and shown angoras and for a fair fee can groom your long hair rabbit and advise you how to keep it in good condition. You can find her here https://www.facebook.com/Rabbit-Grooming-Clipping-558059634348549/ So in summary, please do your research before purchasing an angora, or any rabbit for that matter, they may look cute when they arrive, but can quickly change to a matted mess of pain and suffering for the rabbit. Have a read of toffees story below.
