23.01.2022 But they are still great company! Happy Friday!

21.01.2022 Concerned about ticks? Ticks are nasty little creatures that burrow their heads into the pet's skin for a blood meal. They can transmit diseases and toxins. The paralysis tick can be deadly and urgent veterinary care is needed if found on a dog or cat. Prevention consists of veterinary-approved tick prevention and regular skin checks, particularly after a walk. ... For advice on tick prevention products please contact the clinic to have a chat to one of our friendly staff.

21.01.2022 Ticks range in size from approximately 1mm when not fed up to 1cm when engorged. This can make it especially difficult if not impossible to find in your pets fur, even in short coats. The female tick drinks blood so that it can lay its eggs and can expand to 200 times its original size. They not only cause local irritation, but certain ticks can cause deadly paralysis. If you're not sure what ticks are in your area or what prevention options are available please contact the clinic for more information.

21.01.2022 Watch those Christmas treats. Do not give in to those puppy dog eyes this Christmas! Rich foods, fatty foods (especially the Christmas Ham), chocolate and other sudden changes in diet can cause severe illness in our pets. Stick to their normal dietary routine and offer more cuddles instead! If you cannot resist move your pet to another room during mealtimes and keep them occupied with a pet friendly food puzzle.

20.01.2022 Kennel cough season has officially started! Make sure your pet is protected against this highly contagious respiratory disease. If you are unsure if your dog is up to date, call our friendly team.

19.01.2022 What are you getting your pet this Christmas? Here are some fun and safe gift ideas - new plush toy, ball thrower, treat jar, toy basket, puzzle toy, new bedding, new leash. Whatever you get just remember your pet will just love spending more time with you.

19.01.2022 To your inquisitive pet, Christmas tree ornaments are just new toys. If your pet can access these they can injure their mouth, throat or digestive system. Always be cautious about keeping ornaments out of your pet's reach.

18.01.2022 We love this festive time of year with all the lovely decorations. However we need to be careful that our pets are safe. When decorating your tree this Christmas, please make sure they are secure and out of reach from your pets when unsupervised. Tinsel and dangling decorations are enticing and can cause serious gastrointestinal blockage if ingested.

13.01.2022 Fleas! Did you know that your pet picks up fleas from the environment? Only rarely do fleas jump from one pet to another. Immature fleas wait in the carpet, dirt and doormats for a pet to walk by and jump onto them where they stay and feed on them. ... Fleas are a top cause for allergies and itchiness in pets, so it is important to keep pets up to date with all year-round flea protection.

13.01.2022 5 steps to preventing a flea infestation in the home: 1. Treat all pets in the household with a veterinary-recommended flea product 2. All-year-round treatment 3. 10.01.2022 Is your cat up to date with its vaccinations? Vaccines help protect against contagious, potentially fatal diseases. Even indoor cats need routine vaccinations in case they accidentally get out, visit boarding facilities, are introduced to other animals, or get ill and their immune system decreases. If you are not sure if your cat is up to date please contact the clinic.

04.01.2022 There’s just so much to do at this time of year! Happy Friday!

02.01.2022 Whilst we don't expect to see many ticks within Westbrook town area itself, with tick areas being as close as Drayton and Hodgsonvale and expanding each year we recommend tick prevention for your pets. Watch out for ticks in long grass, woodlands and bush areas. These are perfect environments for ticks to lurk, waiting for their next meal to come walking by. Keep the parasite control on schedule and always check your pet's coat, between their toes, and in the ears after each walk.

02.01.2022 And we thought they never knew the difference. Happy Friday
