25.01.2022 Thank you to everyone involved with organising the Highbury Ride last weekend. It was a fabulous ride, our team of 4 riders and horses really enjoyed the varied terrain and travelled perfectly together. Thank you to Lisa Clarke who rode with us - it was great to have your company and expertise. We were especially proud of Buddy (Jest A Golden Gift) achieving his first 80km completion. Buddy has provided us with plenty of challenges over the last 18 months and we especially... acknowledge Norbert's perseverance and dedication to Buddy to get him to this stage. Hopefully it's onwards (as in 'get ON the truck') and upwards (not as in rearing !) from here on! Also congratulations to one of West Coast Acharon's babies, Chatham Park Allegria ( and Anne Airey) who completed her first 80km. It was wonderful to see such a great turnout of riders for this event, with numbers resembling those of the old days. Again our team tried to keep an even consistent pace over both legs to achieve similar leg splits - this consistency of pace we think is important for horses, especially when they are building up to longer distances. This resulted in Norb and Buddy coming 2nd Heavyweight (from being 6th after the first leg) and Jane and Steel Poppy Regent coming 3rd MW (from being 7th after Leg 1). Bec and West Coast Kia and Lisa and Cabrilla's Heir were equal 5th Lightweight. Thank you very much to the sponsors for their support of this event including Northam Chaff and Anitone (Helen Davey) . 24.01.2022 Pembrooke Park Royalty (Max) and Norb riding at the recent Collie 80km for 1st HWT and BC. Steel Poppy Regent (Reg) and Bec accompanied for 1st LWT and BC. Very proud of the team with only 6 minutes difference in time for each leg. We think that even leg splits for duplicate loops indicates well managed horses - we strive for this each ride! ... 22.01.2022 West Coast Kia (West Coast Acharon x Statuesque) became a pole dancer today! A great clinic with Vanessa Hancox held at the WA State Equestrian Centre. Kia’s first time over poles and she didn’t bat an eyelid. Lots of interesting pole moves were learnt and we can’t wait to try them out at home.

02.01.2022 WAERA State Championships Results The West Coast team took 3 horses to compete in the WAERA State Champs 80km last weekend and all achieved fantastic results: 1st HWT and BC: Pembrooke Park Royalty (Max) ridden by Norb 1st MWT and BC: Steel Poppy Regent (Reg) ridden by Jane... 1st LWT and BC: West Coast Kia (Kia) ridden by Bec A super effort from a group of horses* who felt fabulously strong the whole ride. Max started out very exuberant, keen as mustard, before settling into his usual delightful canter. He teamed up brilliantly with the daughter of West Coast Acharon, West Coast Kia. - Norb Kia was a gem the whole day, having the quickest recoveries on the day for the whole event- despite no strappers! Her fantastic heart made the job of strapping a lot easier. Kia really stepped up in the second leg with Max as they lead the pack around. She even pummelled out a smooth 30kmh+ canter in the final kms of the ride. Kia certainly took the step up in speed in her stride and was hungry for more after the final vetting. - Bec Reg was allowed to relinquish his normal position as fearless leader and he let the youngsters shine. Keen and willing as always. It was great to see the others up in front. - Jane Reg couldn’t see the others in front he was too far behind. - Norb It’s not a race, you bastards. - Jane Reg the anchor. Held us back. Did he get asthma from the dust?- Bec How many photos can you see Reg in? Exactly. - Norb Thank you to the volunteers, sponsors and all those involved for a well-run event. *excludes Reg. T&Cs apply. Photo credit to Down Under Images
