10.01.2022 Round 2 - MSH FOREST RALLY Having rally withdrawals now after a brilliant weekend in Harvey/Collie for round 2 of the WA Rally Championship. Driving the car wit...h new engine and box for the 1st time on gravel made for a cautious start on stage 1 aswell as coming across our closest championship contenders off the road I opted to just get through the stage. Stage 2 followed with bit more confidence on the brilliant Brunswick stage were we were 3rd fastest 2wd. Back to collie for Service then to tackle a loop of 3 stages Palmer, Wellington & Brook which we done 2 times. 2nd fastest 2wd over stage 3 would have kept us in the fight for the 2nd step on the podium, but my luck wasn’t in it, picking up a puncture on the 4th stage 10kms from the end, we dropped over 2mins and fell back to 5th. 1 minute & 21 seconds was the difference to third place and we pushed on with a string of 2nd & 3rd fastest 2wd times as we tried hard to pull back time and catch McRae for 3rd place, but we ran out of Kms and could only narrow down the difference to 29seconds by the 8th and final stage. We finished the event 2nd in class, 4th 2wd car and 12th overall, enough to maintain our lead in the 2wd championship, although a narrower margin than we had hoped for. Thanks to the organisers and volunteers for running a great event,Jonathan on the notes for a brilliant job, Paddy, Henry & Derek in service & my sponsors for getting me to the event.. I hope the wee escort sounded good through the woods, as it was sure fun to drive, happy with new Sadev gearbox thanks to #swrmotorsport Next round is in Manjimup on 0ctober 3rd for the MSH Karri Rally.
