25.01.2022 With travel out of WA still off the agenda, do keep an eye out for WCCs Term 3 programme. Itll be going out to members via Mailchimp on Monday 29 June and booking will be available on the website from then as well.

24.01.2022 Westcoast Community Centre Inc. Annual General Meeting this evening (Wednesday 28 September) at 5.30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

24.01.2022 WCC is sad to say goodbye to Debra Burn, Manager, Library and Community Development at The Grove Library. Debra has been a staunch supporter of Westcoast Community Centre for many years and we will all miss her cheerful smile and willing attitude enormously. All the very best in your retirement, Debra, and please do stay in touch. ... Regards,

24.01.2022 Its great news that the Covid-19 regulations are easing again as of tomorrow (6 June). We hope that members will take advantage of this and have some fun whilst following the social distancing guidelines that are still in place.

23.01.2022 Weve added three terrific theatre events to our programme: one in September and two in early December. Bookings are open now at https://westcoastcommunity.com.au/programme

23.01.2022 WCC recently received a lovely letter from the Penguin Foundation on Phillip Island, thanking our Knit & Crochet for a Cause group for making some little penguin jumpers to assist in the rehabilitation of these beautiful creatures. A well-deserved round of applause to you all! See https://westcoastcommunity.com.au/ for more about our programme and for a copy of the latest WCC e-News.

23.01.2022 When in doubt, check WA.GOV.AU for the latest government advice on social-distancing. Some people are finding the new regulations a little confusing as a number of news stations saying different things. So, in short, the WA Government advises the following - effective as of Monday 27 April: Indoor and outdoor non-work gatherings of up to 10 people will be allowed (an increase from the current 2-person limit), but only at: * weddings and funerals * outdoor personal training (n...o shared equipment) * home opens and display village inspections * If a single household has more than 10 people, that household remains exempt from this new rule. ** All other restrictions remain in place for now.** See more

23.01.2022 WCC members enjoyed a walk at Jackadder Lake this morning, making the most of the autumn sunshine (while it lasts!). Afterwards, walkers bought takeaway coffees from the local caf and enjoyed them whilst chatting in the seating area near the lake. Delightful! Join us for more autumn walks on Monday and Wednesday next week. For more details and to book see https://westcoastcommunity.com.au/programme

22.01.2022 Westcoast Community Centre would like to celebrate National Volunteer Week (18 24 May) by acknowledging the generous ongoing contribution our volunteers make. WCC has been providing learning / leisure activities and volunteering opportunities in the Western Suburbs since 1993 and is able to do so because of support from volunteers, who form the backbone of the organisation. They provide tuition, resources and assistance to make courses accessible and affordable to the community. At this uncertain time its more important than ever to recognise and acknowledge our Volunteers unwavering support and generosity. We look forward to seeing you all again once WCC is back up and running.

06.01.2022 Last week, Ewa visited one of the founding Members of Linkwest - the Westcoast Community Centre. Unlike most of our member Centres, Westcoast does not have the...ir own premises - they operate out of the Grove Library Precinct in Peppermint Grove, where they rent a community room. Ewa (pictured with Anne, the Chairperson) also met Westcoast's Administrator, Melissa, and Treasurer, Jeni. Most of the Centre's members are active retirees, who enjoy a variety of activities including: arts and crafts (knitting, crochet, Aboriginal art workshops), exercise, games (Mah-Jong), book club, outings to the theatre, and talks on a variety of topics. Some of the members and volunteers have yet to return to the Centre since COVID, so things are a little quieter than normal - but hopefully everybody will feel safe and confident to join in again soon.
