22.01.2022 Our learning this week lead us to find the Walk With the Waugyl Videos and resources on the Water Corporation Website. An amazing collection of stories and teaching resources from Dr Noel Nannup, respected Noongar Elder. 21.01.2022 It’s been another colourful day today as we read The Rainbow Serpent by Dick Roughsey. The Rainbow Serpent is a story told in many parts of the country, here on Whadjuk Boodjar the serpent is known as the Waugyl. Little fingers have been learning lots with the rainbow blocks and the rainbow stacker and we’ve been running around with the ribbons making curling trails as we go like the Waugyl when he created the rivers and lakes of the land around us. #wadjukboodja #naidocweek2020 #alwayswaswayswillbe #familydaycare #familydaycareperth #childcareperth #childcarewa #earlyyearslearningframework

21.01.2022 Remember to breathe 2020 has been a year. I personally am welcoming a fresh start for 2021, despite its still three months away. The past few weeks has thrown so many curve balls at us, but the West Coast team have taken it all in our stride. We are taking all of these challenges and using them as a means to grow, develop, learn and constantly move forward in a positive direction.

13.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. With a theme like this, we’ve decided to focus on the land upon which we live and learn more about its true, ancient history. We live on Wadjuk Boodja, which #alwayswasalwayswillbe Noongar land and a number of our Educators live in Wardandi Country. Our newest book is Dordenup Boodja Wongki, Stories from Bibulmun and Wardandi Country which was compiled and published as part of the Dandjoo Moordyap Dabakarn Noongar Language Project. This beautiful... book shares stories in language and translated to English and includes a Noongar word list and a pronunciation guide too. One of these stories is Moolyak Waldjin, The First Rainbow which has been a colourful way to start our week! As it’s Naidoc Week the BEST place to visit with your littlies would be Chevron Parkland Nature Playground!! This natural sensory playground inspires exploration and learning through play and takes kids on a journey through the 6 Noongar seasons of the South West WA and the unique and varied environments of our land. One our favourite spaces within the playground is the Waabin...y Mia. This woven climbing frame is an interactive art installation created by Sharyn Egan that is the perfect invitation to play.
