07.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR CLUB PRESIDENTS AND SECRETARIES Dear All At a recent meeting of Industry Representative Organisations held at the WA Department of Sport a...nd Recreation, and attended by Minister Murray, it was revealed that there are as many as 13 state sporting associations reporting various degrees of bullying, coercive and anti-competitive behaviour from their respective ‘national' sporting bodies, whether they be a democratically elected association, or a self-appointed business. Minister Murray made it very clear to those attending that he and his department are taking very seriously any unjustified instances of bullying of WA associations, clubs, volunteers and participants and that such behaviour would not be tolerated. Minister Murray and his office, and the DSR are currently working with these state sporting bodies, and have elevated their concerns to his federal and other state counterparts on this important issue. For 20 years, the Western Australian Speedway Commission has been recognised by the WA State Government as the Industry Representative Organisation for Speedway in WA, and is owned and controlled by you, our affiliate clubs and divisions. WASC is here to represent your best interests, In particular when it comes to the safety, training and governance of our sport, which may be directly and negatively impacted by any such behaviour. For example, such issues may include the threat of fines or sanctions against volunteer officials, or perhaps by club officers being coerced into to signing up for unwanted commitments, amongst other things. WA Speedway Commission is interested to hear from any Western Australian speedway club, track, division, volunteer or participant directly affected by such behaviour that may have occurred in the past, or is occurring now, and we would encourage those affected to contact us and provide details where possible. Please contact the undersigned in the strictest confidence, Lawson Dixon General Manager, WA Speedway Commission 0435917021 [email protected]

06.01.2022 Well, 4 speedcars from west coast speedcars made the trip to Morawa on Saturday the 10th of October. 47 Trevor Reakes, 12 Chris Telenta, 8 Simon North, 88 Matt Watkins. But still managed to put on a good show with close hard racing. Matt Watkins dominated the heat races with some great driving but Telenta was never far behind him all night. The feature race started of with Watkins and Telenta slugging it out until until Watkins had mechanical problems, forcing him to park the car on the infield. Chris Telenta drove a good race to take out the win from Simon North and ever reliable Trevor Reakes. Well done boys for supporting the club.

04.01.2022 Well Rob Archibald, Ken Reid, John Sims and Michael Zlatovich went down to the west oz 1/4 speedway association on Saturday 19th of December. Wow, what an interesting and enjoyable night it was. Rob took one of his sprintcars down, Ken took one of his speedcars, John Sims put his beautifully presented super mod on display and Micheal put his magnificent vintage speedcar on display. I have never been to one of these events before but it was well worth it, a very well run and p...rofessional outfit with really nice people as well. I had the pleasure to meet one young lady on the night, her name is Jess, she races a 1/4 scale speedcar. Between races she would come talk to us and tell us what was happening with the event during the night, then when she wasn’t explaining stuff to us she was in the canteen helping out as well!! Then she would rush off to drive her car in between!! Man you don’t see young people like that to often anymore!! Her dream is to have a drive of a sprintcar or a speedcar, so I’m going to make that happen. Micheal Zlatovich was the man who organised this display, well done Micheal. See more
