25.01.2022 As you may be aware, over the last two years the governance and running of cycling in Australia has been discussed at length, resulting in the formation of AusCycling at a National level. WestCycle’s role as the peak body for bike riding in Western Australia remains unchanged. What will change however, is that AusCycling will be responsible for the delivery of services to competitive bike riders from the 1st November. It’s important to note that WestCycle remains as committed... as ever to Clubs and competitive cycling, however we will respect that AusCycling is the organisation that will deliver many of the services to these members. This change allows WestCycle to re-divert our resources that are currently focused on competitive riding to deliver more outcomes for those that ride recreationally or to get from A to B. Now we have finalised the discussions in regard to the administration of cycling, we can get back to focusing on what is really important and that is better outcomes for the entire riding community. 21.01.2022 THANK YOU We'd like to extend a huge THANK YOU to all the riders who travelled to York to support the first Canola Classic and the Road State Championships! These events could not have happened without our incredible volunteers, the Shire of York including the York Recreation & Convention Centre, and our fantastic event partners; the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, South West, Pedal Mafia, Vault Cycle Services, Subaru Wangara and SiS Nutrition.... Turning around an event of this size in under 6 weeks was a challenge, but it is clear that the demand for cycling events in this great State is on the rise, and we are thrilled to be a part of it. We are looking forward to providing the community with even BIGGER and even BETTER events as part of the 2020/2021 calendar - coming soon!

15.01.2022 If you're reading this you probably already ride a bike and that's great. Think back to when you first started riding, you may have learnt the hard way where the best places to ride are, how to fix a flat tire and the best coffee shops to visit. That’s why this WA Bike Month, we are calling on enthusiastic bike riding champions like yourself to help to get more people to ride bikes for transport, fun and for a healthier lifestyle. That’s why today we're launching the #rideto...getherWA photo competition. This competition is your opportunity to show the rest of WA just how great bike riding is and offer your support to your friends and family. All you need to do is: Step 1. Take a photo of yourself and/or your favourite bike whilst out on a ride. This can include your favourite place to ride, your favourite bike, your favourite coffee shop to visit by bike or your local WA Bike Month event Step 2. Share your photo on Instagram using the #ridetogetherWA hashtag Step 3. Tag a friend/family member you want to encourage or challenge to ride a bike in October Each week in September and October, two people and their nominated friend will win a $100 bike shop voucher each. Up for grabs is also a $1,000 major prize for the photo that best represents WA Bike Month 2020. Whether it's helping a mate dust off that bike hiding in the shed, accompanying them to a WA Bike Month event or even encouraging a roadie to try out mountain biking (or vice versa), let's get more people into bike riding, together. For more information on how to enter and for t&c’s, please visit http://wabikemonth.com.au WA Bike Month is a collaborative effort between WestCycle and Transport WA.

14.01.2022 Works will soon commence on the Tonkin Gap project that will not only see road and bridge duplications from Great Eastern Highway and Railway Parade, but will also see the construction of a fully separated Principal Shared Path (PSP) connecting the recently constructed PSPs north and south and to the Midland Railway PSP. This large undertaking will see the existing paths in the area being closed and detours in place in several stages for approximately 18-24 months. In additio...n, the Alliance is also working on infrastructure to enable the Morely-Ellenbrook Line. Detours of the PSP between Railway Pde and Morley Drive are also required for a shorter period but will utilise the shared path on the eastern side of Tonkin Hwy where possible. WestCycle has been working with Main Roads WA and the Tonkin Gap Alliance to ensure good outcomes for bike riders both during works and at its completion. We will share updates of this project and the many other cycling infrastructure projects that are due to commence. To keep up to date, sign up to our e-newsletter or visit the website: https://westcycle.org.au/major-works-updates/
