25.01.2022 Can anyone think of a better way to start their Friday morning than with this cuteness overload!?? These cocker spaniel x beagle puppies visited this morning for their 8 week vaccinations, worming and microchipping

24.01.2022 WDVS is away from the area until the 1st October. Ill still be available for phone discussion and booking of appointments for when I return. Thank you for your support

24.01.2022 Do you use a AI programs in your breeding cattle? More properties around the region are implementing the use of fixed time AI during these drought conditions. WDVS offers advice and assistance with AI programs, so dont hesitate to call and discuss your farms needs.

23.01.2022 ***Paying of accounts**** If clients could please stick to the 7 days terms on bills that would be appreciated. I am a very small business and have deadlines with suppliers, so if bills arent paid I wont be able to function and provide services. If we have a prior arrangement that your terms are different please keep lines of communication open with me. I shouldnt have to be chasing clients multiple weeks in a row to pay accounts. I appreciate the clients that pay promptly and understand some bills due to emergency services might need to budgeted for.

23.01.2022 Today WDVS turns 1! What an amazing 1st year it has been in the Western Downs. Thank you to all my lovely clients that have made my dream a success. It is you, lovely ladies and gentleman that makes working in the area so enjoyable. As a thank you, WDVS will be discounting Bordetella bronchiseptica (canine cough) vaccinations, when purchased with any other dog vaccination for the next 3 months.

23.01.2022 Below you can see the before and after pictures of vet Lauren out in the field pregnancy testing cattle! Some days being a vet isnt glamorous, but it is very rewarding. Since starting in the area Lauren has preg tested over 1600 cows and heifers.

23.01.2022 WDVS has been hectic recently, which Im so greatful for the communities continued support! So a huge thank you to my lovely clients. WDVS needs some relaxation and rejuvenation for a week, so from Monday 27th July -3rd August I will only be available for phone discussion. Thanks!

21.01.2022 When did your horse last have a dental? Have you noticed your horse dropping feed? Losing weight? Irritable/playing up when ridden? These are some of the signs owners notice when their horse is in need of a dental. It is recommended that your horse has a dental check-up every 12 months for optimal health.... WDVS has specialty equine dental equipment to make this process as stress-free on your horse companion as possible! See more

21.01.2022 Just some happy pups, to help you get through the week

20.01.2022 Just an update that from Sunday the 8th November 2020 afterhours fees will apply. Afterhours fees are standard for all veterinary clinics, so to be in line with them this is something WDVS will implement. This is also to allow for work life balance. Thanks for your understanding. Photo for cuteness

20.01.2022 WDVS has some exciting news! We have set up a clean secure area at home for your small animal consultations and vaccinations! So please continue to support small businesses in these tough times as it is hitting us hard. Please note still need to purchase a few pieces of equipment like a cage etc. Huge shoutout to Anthea Guest and Daniel Keane for the countless hours of flatpac adventures and helping my dream start to become a reality!

19.01.2022 Some days you just don’t know what you will be presented with. This little cutie, lambington presented as she had started to bloat and was quiet painful. Definitely wins the cutest patient for the day award

19.01.2022 WDVS is in an area experiencing phone outages, so I apologise if you have been trying to contact me in the last 24hrs. Please contact me through fb messenger if you require any assistance. Hopefully the problem is resolved today. Official notification regarding mobile phone outages - "Telstra had crews attending to this outage late yesterday afternoon and last night and have identified that the fibre optic cable between Warra and Kogan has been cut isolating several exchanges and communities. Crews will be attending this morning with machinery to excavate the area where the fibre optic cable is damaged to repair and restore services to these communities."

18.01.2022 How was everyones Anzac Day? Mine started with some preg testing and finished with a prolapsed cow that was trying to calve! So I welcomed to the world a little bull calf! I really enjoy calvings that end with a good result!

18.01.2022 These two pieces of equipment mean that WDVS can now run in house bloods on all species!!! This adds a huge new services. By running bloods in-house we can have results within 15minutes. See you at your next appointment!

16.01.2022 If your horse is due for a booster or you are interested in starting to vaccinate them for Hendra please let me know. Sometimes, depending on clinical signs your horse is displaying, WDVS may need to run a Hendra exclusion test before treating your beloved companion. Hendra vaccination status can also affected whether your horse can go to a referral clinic for surgery etc. These tests do take time to run and treatment for your horse may be limited due to biosecurity risk before results come back. It is much safer for yourself, your family, your vet and your horse to be protected by vaccination.

15.01.2022 What a nice end to a hectic but rewarding week...this little one decided she wanted to enter the world backwards! Lucky for her amazing owners they noticed in time to intervene and help pull her out! So great to see her up and having a drink already! Thanks to all my clients new and old that continue to support me, this week has been so busy but it helps when you love what you do!!!

14.01.2022 This photo represents a huge new service that WDVS can now offer! As many in the area know snakes are out on the move already and also there is an increase in mice numbers. When a cat or dog is either bitten by a snake or ingest rat bait, there is and increase in their clot times. This machine gives a reading of the clot time and whether it is in normal range or extended. So now WDVS can help with any rat bait ingestion or snake bites!

13.01.2022 Not sure when you last wormed your horse? Unsure if they need to be wormed? WDVS offers faecal egg counts (FEC) to understand your horses parasitic burden and classify them as negligible, small or high risk. Based on their FEC classification we can discuss their worming needs.

12.01.2022 WDVS is now ACV PREgCHECK (NCPD) Accredited. This means that if you are selling cattle and they require tail tags, Lauren is now accredited! This is a good achievement and involves pregnancy testing over 2000 head, then sitting a practical examination with an approved examiner on a herd of 100 head ranging from empty to about to calve. Thanks to ben caslick Jo Caslick for allowing me to use your herd for this exam! Also a huge shout out to Mac Kneipp at Border Veterinary Surgery in Goondiwindi for being my examiner!

12.01.2022 One of the rewarding cases this week, a steer with an abscess

08.01.2022 Have you ever seen signs of tetanus in an animal? Recently WDVS attended a property that had lost a few head of cattle that were recently purchased from the saleyards. Shortly after arrival they started to show signs typical of tetanus. Tetanus is caused by a toxin that has an affinity for nervous tissue. It is caused by the bacteria Clostridium tetani. Signs that can be seen in cattle include; salivation, stunned facial expression, muscle stiffness and protrusion of ...the nicitating membrane (3rd eyelid). Tetanus can be prevented by vaccinating stock with 5in1 or 7in1. These cattle have received tetanus antitoxin and supportive care to give them the best chance of recovery.

07.01.2022 WDVS own pet became a patient recently. Roxy a 13 year old border collie x boxer was involved in a farm accident on the 29th August. This accident severely damaged her left back leg and caused major instability of her tarsal joint (ankle) and fractured a metatarsal. This type of injury required specialist surgery. Roxy was taken to Animal Referral Hospital, Brisbane the next day and she underwent surgery on the 4th September after the swelling had subsided. The surgery perf...ormed was a partial tarsal arthrodesis. Due to such severe damage in her ankle, Rox required two plates, one placed medially and one lateral. Today was the day that WDVS vet, Lauren, got to bring Roxy home! Roxy will require 8 weeks of confinement, before having post op x-rays to see how she is healing. Below you can see a photo of Roxy before surgery and when she returned home today, as well as her pre and post-operative x-rays.

06.01.2022 Cuteness overload!!! Have you recently had a litter of pups? It is important to worm them every two weeks, from two weeks of age until 12 weeks old. This beautiful litter of 8 Australian cattle dogs visited this morning for their first vaccinations and microchips before they get ready to head off to their forever homes! It is important to keep up to date with vaccinations, as there has been outbreaks of parvovirus recently in surrounding towns.

05.01.2022 The government has classified vets as an essential service. So please continue to book your companion animals, horses and livestock in for appointments, as small businesses are struggling. During appointments please try to maintain social distancing rules as much as possible. I appreciate your support since starting the business.

05.01.2022 WDVS has been busy recently! After a brief holiday, WDVS returned to work and had the help of my mum, Nerolee for a week! She proved to be a great vet nurse and enjoyed learning about the vet world and meeting some lovely clients! A lot of producers are experiencing cows prolapsing both before and after calving this season. Treatment involves an epidural, cleaning and replacing the prolapse and stitching!

04.01.2022 WDVS is travelling around the Condamine and Miles area tomorrow, so if you need to make an appointment let me know! Thanks
