24.01.2022 What a colourful day WPSW&CG had on Wednesday. Great to see such busy bees creating wonderful things. Can’t wait to see the finished products. Thanks to Mona for the photos

23.01.2022 Couldn’t think of a better way to spend the day than doing a bit of SAORI freestyling! Trying to remember some of the techniques taught to me when I first purchased the loom in 2017. Obviously there’s a few cobwebs to brush out of the brain as it slowly comes back

21.01.2022 Finished tote bag woven on the SAORI. A quick and easy project.

19.01.2022 General meeting at Tarndie Saturday April 17th at 1230.General meeting at Tarndie Saturday April 17th at 1230.

19.01.2022 It’s been a little quiet with contributions of crafting lately, maybe it is because we are enjoying some freedom as life is returning to some sort of norm. We have also had some awesome winter days, certainly too good to stay inside. The two projects featured today are from me The first photo shows headbands or ear warmers. A quick little knit to use up some wool stash. ... The second is actually a woven piece made by my daughter who wanted some retro colours to go into her house. What better than to turn it into a cushion courtesy of mum!

18.01.2022 What a treat it was to have our general meeting at Tarndie on Saturday. As usual we were all made very welcome by the Dennis family with a brief introduction to the property by Tom. Most of those present indulged in some of the wonderful goods they have on offer. Our meeting was held in a cosy old store room complete with stone floors warmed by a wood fire. Great ambience for birthday celebrations for some of our members and a delicious cake made by Carolynne.

18.01.2022 It’s great to be able to get back to our usual Tuesday gatherings. Although we are only allowed limited numbers at this time, it’s lovely to see faces we haven’t seen for months. Please contact Mona if you intend to come so she can monitor numbers. Hand sanitizer is available to use on entry and as needed. Please bring your lunch and own thermos to minimise any risk of a possible cross contamination. Last but not least, if you are feeling unwell please stay at home Some of us are not able to upload photos to share so it was good to be able to post some of Rosalie’s winter woolies. They look fabulously warm

17.01.2022 Mays meeting had a vast array of craft projects to share for show and tell. Sue had her contribution to the seat covers project a cover made by felting a silk scarf with wool in shades of blue. Carolynne was making a knitted scarf, copied from one she picked up in an op shop. The scarf features a central cable. She also had a scarf pin made by her elderly dad. Rosalie has made booties and beanies for her ‘grand’ twins, whose birth is imminent. Chris had almost completed a ...C2C crocheted blanket in red and white. Jean has made a babies jacket, using a 60 year old pattern. Mona has knitted a scarf from wool she had spun from wool dyed by Wendy. Wendy has been busy with her new blending board and has made multi coloured rolags to spin and had also spun the ones she made last week into very striking art yarns. Wendy also had a very interesting display of wools from heritage sheep. She will be spinning these to demonstrate the various properties of the wool. Fantastic as per usual ladies. It’s wonderful to see the variety of items from our members. *Thanks Mona for the photos and descriptions.

16.01.2022 By the sound of it group meetings will be out for a while yet, so please keep passing your crafty bits on to me so we can admire, share and maybe get some new ideas Thank you Carolynne for another sweet submission of your knitting. The beige jumper is for one of Carolynne’s little friends. Whipped up in no time using wool from her stash. ... The vest may look familiar as it is a smaller version for the little brother of the last recipient. I love how he wants to look the same as his big bro.

14.01.2022 I couldn’t resist knitting this sweet little beret found in one of my mother’s pattern stashes. I would guess that by the look of the book it is probably 70’s as it cost 55c new. It has mum’s favourite pattern in it, bed socks! I can remember wearing these as slippers and then later mum knitting them for her grandchildren. The beret would fit up to about a 12 month old child, (there is a slightly larger size as an option). I really like how the stripes form with the decreasing. If the wool reminds you of another hat I’ve posted recently, that’s because this is the 4th hat knitted in this wool. It’s a 4 ply and I’m really trying finish off the used balls. I still have plenty of left overs as this pattern required very little of each ball so stay tuned for a recurring theme

14.01.2022 Good morning. The last month of Autumn is giving as a good taste of what winter is going to be like I hope you are staying warm and maybe starting to make some winter woollies in preparation. I have finally finished my scarf/shawl that I mentioned in one of the earlier posts. Woven on the SAORI loom (a Japanese method of free weaving), done with some roving purchased at the Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show two years ago. I have also used some other wool that I’ve spun to brea...k the weaving up with some solid blocks of colour. I’m thinking very wintery colours and being 100% wool it should be very warm despite the fineness of the weave. Next project is a woven bag to use up some of my scrap wool stash. Should be interesting I hope.

10.01.2022 Carolynne reckons it’s a good day to wear a homespun beanie. I could agree more. This hat certainly looks warm enough to keep that chilly air out Well done

09.01.2022 KEEP CALM AND KEEP SPINNING Thanks for the quote Carolynne. Hopefully we’ll see some more hand spun knitted garments soon

08.01.2022 Today feels like a good day to post this picture. Mary has sent through this photo of a vest that she has recently completed. It has been 4 years in the making (you know we’ve all been there), and has finally finished just in a nick of time to wear during this cold weather. The wool was bought from Western Australia. Mary originally thought it may have been homespun but believes the 4 ply is possibly processed. Even so it looks like it would be lovely and soft. I’m glad you found the time to finish it and hope it keeps you nice and warm

05.01.2022 A heads up from Carolynne. For those of us still in iso and running out of wool! This is a great opportunity to top up our diminishing supply or just because we love a bargain

04.01.2022 Luckily we managed to squeeze in a Tuesday and a Wednesday group before another lockdown. Although they will be no get togethers next week, fingers crossed for a brief lockdown so we can resume with caution the following week.

03.01.2022 We’ve received this post from one of our members Mary. I can’t wait to see it on her when we’re able to meet again as a group, (hopefully soon). Also Mary has sent through some details about how this necklace was created. Fabulously unique piece

03.01.2022 Love these photos from WPSW&CG member, Carolynne. Leggings are back in! My daughter and granddaughters are making quite a fashion statement at their dance classes

02.01.2022 Thought these were clever ideas if you don’t have a fancy smancy wool holder. Does any one use one? Would love some photos to share if you do
