23.01.2022 It is hard to organize a gathering at any time let alone in the middle of a pandemic. When the younger of our students wanted to have a Halloween party and dress for the occasion I delegated the planning to the older teenagers in the group. With social distancing activities and number limits high on the agenda, we held our party last night Saturday, October 31 under to light of a full moon, what could go wrong right. Parents left their children and headed out for a social eve...ning of their own and the fun began. With the event requiring everyone to wear a Halloween costume, with no obvious dress codes (as you will see in the attached pictures) one particular young man came dressed as a witch, in a dress, he stole the show. I now have images ingrained in my mind's eye of a 15-year-old doing spinning kicks, in a dress. Damn should have had the video camera going but then again maybe not. It rained relentlessly, we got flooded, the Dojang is trashed, with horror movies watched and a very cute 6-year-old complaining that he could and would not watch an "M" rated movie (fair enough and because the projector failed and we had to watch Netflix on the telly) so he took his phone to the office and commenced destroying everything in sight in a fantasy game on his phone. The party over as parents began returning to collect their little loved ones (some still missing) we left and decided the cleanup could wait until Monday afternoon. A big shout out to Cleo and Mae for their organization and running of the games, Collin and his crew for their muscle and collecting the pizzas, and Mark for getting the projector going. I've decided that next year we'll hire a hall where someone else can do the cleaning... See more

04.01.2022 Speaking out is fighting back and what better way to fight back but to write a book about your most feared secrets and life challenges. I have a long time friend and student that has done exactly that, Lisa Maree Crisford is a "one in a million" and she has completed her first book. https://www.lisacrisford.com/ I am yet to read Lisa's book but when Lisa first told us of her past and her need to write her story I realized how ignorant I was to her inner turmoil and everyday ...struggle and I was ashamed to be so blind to a friend's needs and heart-broken at the same time. Knowing I needed to do something for her I decided to follow through on something that I have always wanted to accomplish and that was to start a ladies-only Self Defence Class but Covid-19 put an abrupt stop to that in the short term, 2020. Well, I stood proud last night being able to present Lisa with Western Sydney Taekwondo's first ladies-only "Purple Belt" as an ambassador with such courage and dignity. I welcomed Lisa, and congratulated her on being the first Purple Belt recipient in the Western Sydney Taekwondo's ladies-only self-defense class simply called the "Purple Belt Club".
