15.01.2022 Good news for our Hooded Plovers and it came just in time for Threatened Species Day yesterday! A new nest has been established at Henley Beach, between the ...Henley and Grange jetties. It’s our most northerly nest and the young father-to-be, YL (pictured), was only banded as a fledgling at Seacliff in 2019. The site has now been fenced. Please give YL and his partner the best chance possible to hatch their chicks. Keep an eye out for signs, leash your dog, only walk below the high tide mark and move away quietly when you spot hoodies on the beach. The Hooded Plover program on the Adelaide and Fleurieu coastlines is jointly funded through Green Adelaide and the National Landcare Program. The project is jointly coordinated by Green Adelaide and BirdLife Australia, with local support from City of Onkaparinga, District Council of Yankalilla, City of Victor Harbor, Alexandrina Council, City of Marion, City of Holdfast Bay and City Of Charles Sturt. #beachnestingbirds #shorebirds #NLP
